superior 8.8 upgrade with c clip eliminators and 3/4 ton axle bearings and then get a spool or just throw in a detroit and leave the c clips and roll on. i cant afford both the super 8.8 kit and the detroit. i will be trailering it to wheel so street manners are not as high as a daily driver. any advice?? anyone running a spool and not like it?

why are you worried about the c-clips on the 8.8 ? They are fairly big and arnt really a weak point for that axle..

Not sure what size tires your running but many people wheel the 8.8 as is with just a detriot w/ no problems..

If I spent the $$$ for the Super88 I would spool it. Rear upgrade shafts are like $250. I think the 8.8 housing and tubes will fall apart around these shafts before they fail.

The biggest advantage of the superior 8.8 isn't that you get rid of the c-clips since thats not where a 8.8 will break. You get a stronger shaft and keeps them from bending at the end of the axle tube which seems to be a somewhat common problem. Also it adds two inchs of width to the axle without using spacers which is nice if you want to keep it the same width as a jeep front. You can switch from 5 x4.5 to 5x5.5 with the superior kit which is nice if you plan to change front axles down the road. Plus bigger bearings and being able to remove the shafts without messing with the dif is always nice.

So with all that in mind I would vote get the superior kit and a spool since its trailered anyway. My 8.8 is welded and I like it better then having a locker.

I wouldn't put alot of money into that axle without upgrading the housing, which bends easily from what I have seen... once you start into the housing, you'd be better off going with something else completely, IMO.
