I hope you guys do not mind the length of most of my videos. I notice that most folks just put short clips on here I tend to do highlights of the hole trip.

Great job on the vid Lee. I had a great time at the dust bowl. Let me know when you get your 60's and we'll start pulling your jeep apart.lol

I got some video to share from yesterday as well. I had a good time and the weather was perfect even if it was dusty on the trail. It was good to wheel with John, Paul, Matt and the rest of the guys. I met Josh C. yesterday as well when we were getting off the trail. No carnage to report out of our group other than Matt bending his rear frame trackbar mount and losing the bolt.

Fun wheeling with you guys, Joel! Everything from mild to wild :) Thanks for the vids, they were really good.

Ditto. Even though we waited an hour for the last guy to show up. ;) I am glad you liked the videos. If you don't like my choice in music I would be happy to remove the music and put em out for you to download again.

Great videos Joel. I have a video of a guy in a stock Rubicon unlimited trying to climb Kodak I did not include it in the video I posted here. He never made it but man he beat on that Jeep good.

Thanks everyone for letting me tag along yesterday! I had a great time. Met a few of you, but really wasn't sure who was who. Look forward to hopefully making some more runs before I tear down the YJ to add a couple more cylinders.

Steve

Music? With my hearing and my computer speakers I didn't even notice :)

Not a problem on the waiting, it was for a good cause. I believe that is the first time I ever saw someone take off their mufflers as part of getting ready to hit the trail. It was good to meet you and your brother and thanks for the compliments on the video but it's the participants who make it interesting. ;)

How true that is!

First time for me too :p . Sorry to hijack the thread, but how do you add music to the video?

It depends on what you edit the video with. Usually you can import music and add it as a separate audio track. That gives you the ability to control the volume of it separate from the audio track in your video. If you have XP try Windows Movie Maker. It is probably the easiest video editor to use. I also use Ulead and Adobe Premier from time to time.

I use windows movie maker. Adding music is very easy with it.

Part '79 CJ7, part '86 CJ7, part '74 K20, part '79 waggy, part YJ, blah, blah....sorta stockish

Yeah, sorta stockish :) Good to meet you Andy, hope to see you on the trail again soon. Came home and tore my skid off and went to work on a flat skid to get a little more underbelly clearance. How did the solid mount on the cage work? Wondering how I'd be with a solid mount on the skid for the trans/tcase.

The solid mounted cage is working well so far. I decided NOT to go with the solid mount at the trans/t-case because I was afraid the mount would brake due to all of the torsional loading from the engine. Not to mention the fatigue loading, aka vibrations, which would both kill the mount and transmit the vibrations directly to the frame. A rubber/poly mount will act as an isolator and a "cushion" against torsional loading.

After seeing your CYJ, I've been searching for parts to convert to XJ springs :) . The only thing holding me back is what to do with the gas tank. BlueTorchFab sells a replacement tank, just for the conversion, that fits under the body for $600 :( . I guess I'm just hesitant to put the tank in the back and take up the only useable cargo area in the CJ. I meant to see how you did your tank, but I forgot to look  .

Now you tell me. Did it anyway. Since everyone I talked to said not to, I HAD to try it :)

Yeah, takes lots of room, just the tank and a cargo box, no back seat. I basically just moved the stock tank up to the bed. Not much to it except lengthening the 2 soft lines and strapping it down.
