Never used a campground up there since its always been day trips. I looked up online and found

arrowhead
West Morris
Canebrake
and Badin lake

I understand these are all fairly close. Any suggestions. We will all be tents btw if that changes anything.

I have stayed at the hunt camp. Its only about 5 mins from the out post. No reservations and you just drop your $5 in the box. Its really close to the trails.

IIRC, arrowhead is the only campground with running water (flush toilets/showers). I usually stay there. I *think* there is a new 4x4 campground which would remove the need to trailer a buggy or atv but I'm not sure if it's going to be open on 4/1 or how to book it.

Badin Lake Campground is our choice. Waterfront sites. Also have showers and flush crappers -- There are 3 or 4 bathhouses around the loop.

I've only stayed at Arrowhead, but it sure was nice to have bathrooms for the little ones. If that's a necessity for you, look at arrowhead or badin lake campground. It's easy to reserve the campsights. There's a link on URE's sight. Pay online, show up at your campsight, your name is posted showing you have it reserved, pitch your tent. Simple.

Canebreak is nice, but seems to be used mostly by the four-footed off-roaders.

Badin Lake is the one on the Lake near group camp.

Arrowhead has everything.

Ain't got a clue about Morris.

The MSG Art Lilley Memorial Campground/parking area is still scheduled to open on 01 April 08, unless something goes terribly wrong, although it won't be officially dedicated until the weekend of the 18th of April. This campground/parking area will eliminate the need to trailer to a trailhead as it is being built where the big mud hole was/is.

Do you know how we will be able to reserve those sites? I want to go ahead and book mine.

Also, theres about 10 of us going. 4-5 tents, will one campsite do it or should I reserve 2?

Thanks, hijack off.

I honestly don't know. Zuwharrie.com just collected the money to donate enough 6x6 lumber to build the 3 ATV ramps that are going to be put up there and we're trying now to get the gravel for those ramps. I was speaking to Ranger Walker about delivery of the lumber when the info I just gave was passed.
There will possibly be a rock garden put into the spot where the mud is now, they aren't sure yet. If I get any more info on the sites up there I'll pass it along.
