URE July 15th?

That is the work weekend for trail maintenance in conjunction with the Forest Service Rangers. Free riding and camping for those that work. We usually work from about 9 am to noon or 1 pm then ride all afternoon. We meet at the Hunt Camp, the campground at the main entrance off 109 at 9 am Saturday and Sunday. Anyone is welcome to come help out and take advantage of the free pass.

like Grant said...look for the little red Chero with all the Wranglers. hopefully ill be testing out the new 4.56s and GMAC will be breaking in the new Jeep. we are spending Sat night so i def wanna wheel on Sunday...hope to see you there

I think that is the weekend the carolina jeepsters are going to be there. I will be there with them and will most likely be there for the trail cleanup again. I just had ACL surgery so I will hopefully be up for it by then. if not I willl not be there until AUG.

Trail volunteers do lots of different chores on workdays. Hauling bales of hay, fencing, trail signs and other tools/supplies to the work sites. Installing same. Putting up trail markers on trees, cutting dead trees and trees blocking trails. Trash pickup. Putting in culverts at creeks crossings and a myriad of other jobs. It usually isn't hard work and the more people we have the easier it is. It's just a good way to enhance the relationship between the Forest Service and our sport, be more "in the know" about the goings on at URE and of course get free camping/riding for the weekend :)

jeepsters

Who are the Jeepsters? Are there many of them? We were hoping the weekend after July 4th would be quiet. Testing out some stuff before Windrock.

A REAL JEEPSTER guy will be there with a JEEPSTER:D
Trail work will include a hard weekend of trail work. We'll be installing highway guardrail in place of the cedar home fencing at various trails.
Come on out and work for part of the day and play the rest for free. Camp free and shower at Arrowhead for free.
We can use all of the help that ya'll can provide.
We need to tow the supplies to the work areas and then install it.
All helpers are needed and welcome but especially we need some trucks and HD 4X's.
Thanks,
RQ

sorry, it is on the 21-23 of July anyway. I dont think this is an official workweek. but we will be at group camp. Should be a good time. I will still be in a cast from my knee so my wife will be doing all the driving. She got about 4 feet of air on daniel last time so it should be a nice 3 days of wheel for her. Catch up with as at the group camp if you would like. thanks JOHN

Oh, I think the Carolina Jeepsters have been around for longer than any other club. I think about 10-15 years. Something like that. We had a great time. lots and lots of breakage.

I'll be down on Sat to work/ride. Please join us!

Carolina Trailbazers have been around since 1971 and incorporated in 1973. Jeepsters is just a Jeep club based out of Fayettville, but does have a small splinter group in the Boone area. No Jeep Jeepsters even in the club, mostly TJs, and not a member of Southern Four Wheel Drive or United Four Wheel Drive. Good group of people though and very active as a club. I have enjoyed and participated in several of their rides, which have been great and well organized. Lots of members due to the military base in Fayettville.

Yep, I am a new member and I like it because it is a very private club and very large. We are having about 40 Jeeps At URE this next weekend. Thanks!

By private I don't mean they dont allow anyone to come in to there club, just that you dont see them on the forums or advertising there Yahoo Group. A lot on here did not even know who they were. That is what I mean. I guess by private I mean they are not trying to be in the spotlight with decals, announcements, etc.

alright, i'm heading out to uwharrie. me, gmac and BIG G1118 will be wheelin, so if you see a black tj on 35s, a stocker on 31's and a red cherokee on 33s come say hey!

We went yesterday and came back late last night. It was miserable hot and dusty. It was also boring because we didn't see any other 4x4s. The rain we were hoping for never came.

That's the truth. Got there Early Friday and rode all weekend. Hardly saw a soul. Where was everyone? 40 Jeeps. I could count on my hands the number I saw. I must have been in the wrong place.
