I'm trying to find where it states in the uwharrie rules and regulations that you cannot have alcohol in the forest system. Does anyone have a link to these rules and regulations, ive searched and searched and searched and i can't find anything, thanks!

As far as I can find alcohol is prohibited in developed/use areas (campgrounds, boat ramps, picnic areas etc) and the trail system. I do remember reading somewhere that alcohol isn't allow period in the National Forest, but I have yet to find that information again (or know the validity of it).

thanks for the reply. I know the over all understanding is no alcohol, i'm just trying to find it in back and white somewhere.

thats somethin ive been pondering for a while also. the campsite we stay in is undeveloped as you can get(read "hole in the woods") i know a forestry serviceman came to ours in April on a sat. morning and didn't bat an eye at the trash bag full of cans. he came too see if everything there had a valid set of tags. i would like to see it in writing as well, because i like to enjoy cool beverages at the end of the day. :)

ure

Recreation.gov - under the description of Arrowhead Campground, it says "no alcohol"

Thanks Chris.. Arrowhead isn't an issue, I know the rulings for the campgrounds and certain other areas, looking from trail/trail camping related regulations

page 367 CFR title 36 part 261.58 Occupancy and Use and I quote.....

"(bb) Possessing a beverage which is defined as an alcoholic beverage by State law."

http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/waisidx_99/36cfr261_99.html

FWIW, it has ALWAYS been illegal to posses alcoholic beverages in a national forest, it's only been in the last 5-6 years that they have started enforcing it with any regularity, due to drunken idiots at the campgrounds and on the trail.

Tellico rangers used to regularly stop and search trail riders for alcoholic beverages, then fine those who were carrying and confiscate their booze.
