Anyone here have experience using the Quick 4 from US Shiftware?
Working on customers 1990 G20 5.7TBI. Had 4wd conversion done many years ago with a 4L80E installed and it's never shifted right according to him, mostly ALWAYS has shifted right out of first gear immediately no matter what throttle, no matter what you set shift points to. So long story short that was done at some shop out of state, doesn't help me and I'm trying to learn the software but after learning my way around this Quick 4 controller and settings, I've overlooked all the wiring and everything seems to mostly check out.
No matter what "shift tune" I upload into the controller, trans still shifts out of 1st gear like instantly...
Also if I manually start in 1st gear still barely gets any rpms then immediately shifts to 2nd as well.
All other gears seem to shift pretty good, little "laggish" going into OD but 2-3, 3-4 shift pretty smooth/as normal as I would expect for the most part.
Thank you for any guidance. I'm new to "programming" transmissions lol but according to US Shiftware, it's a pretty simple setup and of course the tech guy on the phone couldn't tell me much more than I've already figured out that it's Not doing.

I've got a 4l80 quick 4 you could probably try out and see if it changes anything. Need to make sure it's getting correct tach signal and vss is in the right place and working.

Well, the tach wire wasn't hooked up but according to the manual, doesn't necessarily have to be.
I hooked it up, didn't change anything.
VSS from my understanding is that its getting its signal from the input and output sensors on the transmission?? If not than this is my problem I think cause the speed sensor on tcase is only hooked up on factory harness for speedometer I reckon but not tapped into the Quick 4..hope that made sense. Thanks a bunch

According to customer trans only has 67k miles so I'm assuming its mechanically sound

Ratio too High in Gear(s) 2, 3, 4, etc. Transmission gear ratio appears to be too high in the indicated gear or gears.
these are the 2 codes it has in "history" I forgot to mention(for 2nd and 3rd). anyone know what this means and where I would start to look for a problem? are we talking electronic issue or mechanical issue? thanks

wth just happened

You can change the gear ratio in the computer. It may play a part in how it shifts
Not the axle ratio, company says has no affect on shift points. These codes refer to internal transmission gears

I dont know exactly what those codes mean, but heres my interpretation of the wording:

If there is a speed sensor on the input and output of the trans, those statements would indicate that the rear output is spinning faster that it thinks it should, based on the input speed.

That might could indicate why it shifts out of first so quick. The rear output thinks it is going faster than it really is, and therefore shifts up. Not sure if there is a way to measure/test the input and output VSS to see if it is functioning correctly? Is it possible to change the trans ratio in the tcm?

Tach signal isn't needed. Got some ideas from tech support I'm working on..freaking multi tasking like crazy over here

So you need to be using 2 of the transmission speed sensors for the quick 4, Check to make sure there's actually a tone ring in the output shaft of the transmission, you might need to move that speed sensor to the Tcase. I know there were some years in the mid 90s gm did weird shit with the speed sensors. Had this exact problem on a 6.5 truck I bought a couple years ago the past owner put a rebuilt transmission in it but put the speed sensor in the wrong hole and it wouldn't shift right.

:edit: also, the self learning feature of the qs4 as well as a lot of the shift tuning Features in the software require a tach input signal

Tada thank you found the problem. Your more help than the quick 4 tech guy. So now gonna splice into tcase sensor. Thanks bud

It's fixed! Thank you for all the guidance guys!
