Just a reminder...
On opening weekend at URE, make sure you are legal, sober, and have all your licences,registrations,inspections..ect...in line when you are riding on the Forest rds. Mullinex always seems to have at least on licence check on opening weekend. The other roads are subject to this as well. Dont ask me how I know...TRUST ME. Be careful and watch your arses..There is a 100% chance someone will get a ticket for something stupid. Warning tickets will be few and far in between, and real tickets cost bigtime. LEO is looking to make an example out of you...dont be that guy!

How do you know?:flipoff2:

this is just for the gravel roads through out the forest right, i don't need any registration or inspection for the trails do i?

Be careful at the the campgrounds too. Know at least a couple different guys that busted for alcohol at Arrowhead last season.

ok so if my jeep is not registered I need to pick it up at the end of every trail? no riding on the gravel roads? and also can I flat tow it if it isn't registered?

You are supposed to. Vehicles must be legal to ride on the State/fed rds. Dont know about towing and what not. I am just reminding folks to be wary of licence checks. I'm not the law, and dont know all the laws, but I do know that there will probably be surprise checks So be careful.

Yep,thats the law. Sucks, don't it? Also, alcohol is not allowed in ANY state park.

rules on the gravel roads are just like any other road. Flat towed vehicles are considered like trailers, and are supposed to be tagged.

Who said anything about a state park...URE is a National Forest...UNF :shaking:
...still no alcohol allowed

For god sake just put the beer in a damn dixie cup and watch it. Don't give them a reason to attack ure to. AA might try and shut it down!

Rover Dude asked about the beer at URE. I shall now write,It is a NF,not a state park 100 times on the chalkboard.

Shoot...I'd write ''I will not run an improper, expired licence plate, from a jeep I dont own anymore, even though It was a personalized tag, that I had owned since I was 18, and I was running it just for looks, and never planned on being on the highway with it, But my tow rig was blocked in, so I could'nt get to the store, and thought I could make it in the jeep. And that there was no licence check 5 minutes ago, when i come through there...I am sorry!

Yeah, I'd write that a thousand times to get my $600.00 lawyers fees back.

Another dumb question, and hopefully this does not put this thread in the garage, but... since Uwharrie is a NF and not a state park, is it legal to carry a fire arm if you have a CCW?

I think the whole thread could be summed up with "Obey The Law" and you shouldn't have any problems. "Use caution" is for those that need to be caught IMO.

Question answered, thanks awspence. If you have a CCW, you can legally carry a loaded pistol on NF land.

What about a potato gun? Can I bring that out there? I am going to have it mounted on my hood but that is out and the open and shouldnt be considered a concealed weapon so i will not need a permit right? :flipoff2::lol:

That would depend on what type of potato canon it is (e.g. propellant style).
If it is explosive based, that's probbaly a firearm.
However if it is compression powered, then that's just, well, an air tank that happens to have a potato stuck on the end :driver: no firearm

Leave it to you RatLab to break it down and clarify! Ha ha

UNF is a GAMELAND whole different set of rules. i think the max size you can carry is .22 unless you are hunting big game with a large caliber but you had better have a liscense to hunt and it better be in season. and i think the barrel has to be under 7 inches.

i could be way off on this though. i usually am when it comes to the gun laws, lol.
