So my kid hit a curb or pothole or something and bent/ cracked her Alloy rim.

I called a could of junkyards and they all said no! That they immediately scrap them when they come in. That they only keep steel. What is the deal with this? Is it the scrap value or some other reason like safety or liability?

Could it be location? Florida has some high ass real estate. I would think the yards down there don't keep them around long. I'd look on ebay and CL.

If it’s an OEM wheel, check Rockauto, depending on vehicle they may have reman or new replacement, usually fairly reasonable.

Having worked at two different salvage yards in North Carolina, aluminum wheels were a huge seller. Steel wheels inevitably piled up and became scrap, some aluminum did as well, but mostly due to the amount of cars that were purchased with the same wheels.

I an getting ready to scrap 500 older aluminum wheels this week to make room for something newer. What kind of wheels are you looking for?
