Used trucks

Im looking to buy a different truck than the one I have now. I don't really want a new truck and am finding that used trucks are worth quite a bit more than I thought they would be. Currently I drive a regular cab long bed Z71. I just had a kid and the prospect of putting every one in the truck when we go to the lake isn't good. My wife's grand Cherokee will pull our boat but it doesnt like it very much. Basically what I want it an extended cab short bed truck.

The choices that I am looking at really require me to get an older truck. I don't want to have a bunch of money wrapped up in a truck. I like not having a truck payment. But I just don't have the cash to go out and buy a truck. So that leaves me financing anything that I might get. I'm hoping that I will just go with a 36 month loan to get it paid quickly.

So basically the question is: would you finance a truck with more than 100k?

Most cars and trucks now laugh at 100k as long they were properly maintained, and most lending institutions know that. As with any vehicle purchase, milage is just one of many things to consider. I bought a 06 CTD in December that had 160k on it, and the Credit Union had no problems loaning the money for it.

i wouldnt be to concerned on the lenght of the loan. just get the one with the least amount of interest and pay it off as soon as you can.
but on the question on financing a truck with over a 100k, i wouldnt do it, but thats just me.

I would not be concerned with milage if the vehicle was maintained, vehicles go so much further these days with advanced lubricants and whatnot, just my $0.02

Heck a 4wd with over 100k mi is all I can afford!! you looking fro a half ton or 3/4 ton?

I'd rather have a 3/4 ton truck. I just like the f250 better. I found a really nice looking v10 f250 that made me have the wants badly. It was in just about as nice if shapw as you'll find one. Only hang up was mileage. Gone before I could make it happen.

If you go with a diesel don't let miliage scare you....I sort of financed mine 4 years ago...made payments to a buddy of mine for a year and a half. Now have 320k and some change on a 96 f250. High miliage on a v10 would scare me though imho

V10s will blow by the 300k mark fairly easy. I would take a modern gas motor over a modern diesel any day for cost to maintain. And the truck will be 8k less to start with. A gas crew 3/4 ton tends to cheaper than a gas half ton crew and get similar mileage.

I don't even know how many miles are on my 97 f250 diesel. I won't win any towing speed records but its reliable as shit. Last spring I drove the family 16 hrs for a funeral.

I guess it kinda depends on what boat you are towing and how far; a gasser could eat your wallet.
