Sitting around looking at the yj and thinking about all of the worthless things I've done or seen done. I'll start....

First day I got the jeep I paid $100 for a set of 2" shackles. I can make 50 sets for that price!

Keep in mind, this thread is for your opinion of worthless :)

Throttle body spacer and or air filter upgrade for extra horsepower, worthless for seat of the pants power in a stock Jeep motor! It might dyno at a couple more horsepower but you'll never notice it in everyday driving.

the jeep gods will smite me for what I am fixin to say...
most useless thing "I" have done to my Willys is put a freakin locker in the rear D44.

A transfer case drop. Goona be some wild answers on this.

Dont know the name of it, a big antenna whip thing that goes over the body to deflect tree limbs, at least I assume thats what its for

Quick disconnects on my k5 doors....after the first tiem I disconnected them I never again tried to reinstall them

When I first got my jeep I changed the gear oil in the d35. That was a complete waste of money.

All of the k&n and spacers are a joke. No real gain.

Paint and body work is a complete waste of time.

Here is the story. I bought an 85 FS Bronco in the fall of 2000. The previous owner had done a really nice camoflage paint job. After a little less than a year of owning it, I decided to paint the truck yellow since that was the fad at the time. I spent numerous hours spreading and sanding bondo before painting. I used the Bronco to tow my dirt bike around. After about 1.5-2 yrs of that, I started taking it 4 wheeling. Two years later almost every inch of the body was scratched and or dented. I ended up replacing the Bronco body with a Ranger cab.

15 sets of offroad lights perched above the windshield, the cowl, ends of the bumper... "safari" baskets on top, filled with 1000# of crap (axe/shovel/spare/full Jerry cans(s)/Hi-Lift/"expedition planks"/extra 100' of winch cable/spare parts)... to catch every limb in URE & raise the COG to 5' :shaking:

Without fail the worst mod I've done is my fuel cell. I absolutely HATE that thing! It fills the cabin with gas fumes, it's a pain in the ass to fill, and it takes up half the space in my cargo area. Live and learn I guess.

Revolver shackles or using the "missing link" set-up on a samurai rank pretty high on my "don't was your money on it" list

Harness bars attached to the body to have harnesses without a cage.

Exo-cages (sorry guys)

Fender Flares

Nerf bars (yea I know... I have them on my dodge  ) FWIW they came on it.

Roll bar mounted speakers. Busted both of them. Looking for an alternative, I do like my tunes.
A friend of mine took 2, 5 1/4" speakers and mounted them in a pair of 6" KC light housings. They worked and looked great. It gives you a metal housing and a fairly solid mount instead of the plastic crap that wraps the tube.
