Damn, that was a crazy 3 months. But over nevertheless. 10 days of boot leave. Doesnt seem like enough, but cant wait to go to MCT now, then onto MOS school for some good ole training. Probably wont be touchin my jeep till next year. got alot on the plate now. Can't wait till i get to my actual duty station though. Who else is a marine on this board?

Semper fi.

Thank you for your service!

My dad was USMC in Vietnam, it took years for him to get a thanks.

Be safe, and wack some tangos!

Hey Semper Fi, Just a quick little bit of advice...LOCK YOUR CRAP UP! Marines are there to save your life but will steal from their brothers in a hot sec. If its unsecured and unattended your trash is gone, this includes your $3000.00 worth of govt issued gear! I am a prior Marine MP. If you have any questions shoot me a pm. oh yeah did I mention LOCK UP YOUR TRASH

Congrats PFC Ward, Joshua J.

My Air Force basic was WAY harder hahahaha!jk,yeah man Im in bagram, afghanistan for the 2nd time(Im a F-15 fighter crew chief) and i have a few marine buds here and they talk all the time about getting there crap stolen so watch it!Oh and when you get a pistol/rifle whatever it may be keep it on you at all times!

I was 3rd RTB Lima Co. You?

Thats cause in every branch, there are thieves. The difference is that in the other branches, if something (especially high-speed items like ka-bars, goggles, gloves, ect.) gets lost or broken, often you get issued a new one. In the Marine corps, you only get one of something, and the only way to get it replaced is to buy a new one, which is usually impossible during a deployment, or to "acquire one"

Thank you and all who serve regardless of branch or job. I am in the Air Force (3 weeks shy of 13 years). I love the military but I am sure I never could have survived USMC Basic. Congrats on Basic and good luck one the remainder of your service.

Thank you for going through hell training so that me , my friends, and family are able to live in a free country. It is much appreciated...thats goes to all who serve!:usa:

Does any former Marines know how MCT goes? And what goes on there?

Thanks Man, and glad you survived!
I didn't serve, but my son is in now. NCNG in Iraq as of now.
Bless all of our service men and women.

I am a Marine in Iraq but from Jville NC. Not sure how MCT goes now but it use to be 35 straight training days. You wont even need any Civilian attire. You should get into Jville on Monday and Check in before midnight Tuesday. If you take the bus. If you parents drive you will go to the New River Airstation gate and they will direct you where to go from there.

What is your MOS? That will tell us where your school will be.

There is only one theif in the Corps Everyone else is just trying to get their trash back.

hehe,FamilyXJ,you brought back memories I have of Camp Gieger. I wasn't a Marine but for 9 months in 1988/89,I worked on a crew installing a new sewer main from the waste treatment plant near the ABC training area, through the barracks, down an old obstacle course and then across the entrance to New River. Hehe, I got a snoot full being nosey at the NBC brick building.I was looking in through the window at the back door watching the training, and the door poped open on me.Man I snotted and coughed for an hour.DON"T WIPE YER FREAKIN EYES!!!!!!!

If you have NBC training going on, DON'T leave your gas mask in barracks.Instructors don't like that too much.

Don't be a straggler when jogging.Better to die from a heart attack.

If your MOS is on a mortar team,DON"T piss the man off.He will stand you there in rank with your part outstretched. The plate man suffered that day.

watch out for HMMVees with large paper targets on top. That can't be good for the driver.

YOU can't be quiet with full gear on! A squad used us as objectives while cleaning out that old obstacle course between Gieger and New River.Pushing down trees and bushes with a trackhoe. I could hear the individual Marines in the bushes trying to sneak up on us so I would direct Bill which way to throw the small trees and sapplings. The "MAN" stood back in a clearing and laughed his ass off.

Ahhh,good times.

I should have gone in but didn't.Anybody that pulls duty has my utmost respect. Thanks for the work ya'll do.

My MOS is Aviation Mechanic, so i'll be down in Pensacola, FL.

George told me to say whats up!
