Hitting uwharrie Friday with my neighbor that has never seen a trail before. It should be fun, but anticlimactic. If anyone cares to join, shoot me your #. I think the plan is to be at the outpost around 8.

If anyone has a good route plan for taking a newbie thru, it would be helpful. Pretty sure Daniel and Dicky bell are the only ones i don't want to take him.

Before getting to double parking lot take the right entrance, that’s 92 (Rocky Mountain loop) follow it up to 93 (sawmill). Take 79 right (slab pile) take 89 (wolf den) left. Take that up and run new trail (lake view) come back to 90 (Dutch John). Take 92 right (rocky mtn loop) back to opposite side of gravel road you started on. If feeling groggy with him take him up back side of Daniel. (390)

I'd love to go but I'll be at the beach. As for a newbie route, I'd suggest starting at Wolf Den near the gun range and going to the new Lake View trail, hit a few of the optional lines there if so inclined/equipped, then Falls Dam to Dickey Bell. Dickey has the "tough" hill climb, but there are several lines and a good spotter can make a big difference, and once you're past it the trail is pretty easy. If Dickey is a hard no, then you could start at the first RML crossing and go up like you're going to the backside of Kodak, then take Sawmill down to Slab Pile, then the WD/LV/FD loop.

I forgot to update this. We had a fun trip last Friday. We ran the route that @Tails suggested. The only thing I'm unsure of is the lakeview trail. I don't think we hit it.

I'm pretty sure my neighbor has the bug now. I know he can't wait to go back and he's talking about trying Dicky Bell. Maybe we'll hit it in a few weeks.

My daughter made the trip with me. It was awesome having her ride along. The only time she's gone is our trip to Moab.

Glad you had a good trip. Sorry I wasn’t able to join you. I’m hopefully going to have my Jeep back together in two weeks.
