Uwharrie Saturday 9/3

Had a great time yesterday! Met up at the Outpost with the following folks:
Jimmy (ord.sgt.26NC) in his 1950 Willys
Sandy (sandy w) in a YJ and her sister Sheila and BJ & Bruno (the jeep lovin chihauhaus)
Joe (mudder) in an LJ and his buddy John
Joe (sorry, don't know your screen name) and his 4 legged kids Hitch and Aussie with a kick a$$ Isuzu Vehicross
Jason (sorry, don't remember you're screen name) in a TJ with his wife Jessica and their son (Mark) and daughter (sorry, missed her name).
Chad (Exploderpilot) in a 4 Runner
Paul (sorry, don't remember your screen name) in a highly modified FJ
Ricky (RickyR) in a Rubicon with his wife
Nick (sorry, don't know your screen name) in a Rubicon with his wife and their kids
Todd (DSM Turbos) in a TJ
There were a bunch of other folks we met up with and I'm sorry I didn't get your name and screen name. They included a blue TJ and a guy with a kick a$$ Toyota truggy with incredibly low gearing.
Chad and Paul headed out to the trails a bit before we did with some other FJs and another 4 Runner. We left for the trails around 10 AM and hit Rock Mnt Loop first. No issues with the double ledge - everyone that tried it made it over. I think I was the only one who took the bypass to the left. We hung around Kodak for awhile and watched a few play in the rock garden. At this point we lost a few folks. Think they were still playing in the Rock Garden when we took off. We finished off Rocky Mnt Loop and headed back to the double parking lot for a quick sandwich.
We ran over to Dickey Bell and ran that trail next. The Little Daniel Hill Climb seemed a bit more rocky and a bit more washed out than back over Memorial Day but everyone made it up and over and we finished off the trail. After Dickey Bell we decided to go to the Outpost for lunch and to let the 4 legged ones stretch their legs a bit. Jason, RickyR & Nick were going to meet up with us later and we decided to meet back at the Art Lilley parking lot.
After lunch we went over to Art Lilley and saw a guy in a TJ stuck in the soupbowl. By the time we got there he had his winch hooked to a tree and was in the middle of getting himself out. Engine was still running as we heard "Blup, blup. blup" as the exhaust was below water level. We didn't see Jason, Ricky or Nick so we took Wolf Den over to Dutch John, and ran through Dutch John.
At the end of Dutch John we went back up and around Rocky Mnt Loop again. I redeemed myself from taking the bypass earlier in the day and followed mudder up and over the double ledge. After we finished the trail we met back up at the double parking lot.
It was a little after 5 PM so Joe took his 4 legged friends back home. Sandy, Sheila, Joe, John & Jimmy were heading to Zeno's for dinner. Me and the Mrs had to get back home and let our 4 legged boy out for a walk, so we loaded the jeep on the trailer and headed for home.
Thanks to everyone for a fantastic day! Just a great bunch of people enjoying the trails and good company.
I'll get some pictures and video up later after the wife finishes editing them.

Garbage

I was on the trails also Saturday the trash was everywhere. I picked up my normal bucket full. This was my second time up this year I hope it is still open the next time I can afford to go.

I grabbed a whole bag of trash that someone left at the edge of the trail at a camp site along RML and god knows how many cans were in my floorboard by the end of the day. IT was quite possibly the worst amount of litter I have ever seen out there.

Dude I saw that too. Jimmy and me were going back to get it at the end of the day and someone already got it, now I know it was you. Nice job man! glad to see that others noticed all the garbage down there as well.

It was great meeting all of you out there and cant wait to wheel with everyone again soon. btw I only got a few pics, but I will post them as soon as I get back to my house.

Just made it home from a great day of wheelin'. We ran into the 4x4Everyone club at the Outpost and rode with them up until Kodak. JB, Todd, and I were playing around in the rock garden for a little while and lost track of the 4x4Everyone group after that. Carnage for the day was minimal. I smashed the rear diff cover in a bit and my power steering system overheated at the end of the day. Todd's winch stopped working as well. We ran across a H1 that had broken a lower ball joint on Daniel, so Todd stabilized the H1 with his non-working winch  while it was repaired.

I will post up some video once I get it uploaded. A couple of pics I took are below.

*WARNING* SOAP BOX MATERIAL: I must say that I was very disappointed in the number of beer cans laying in the trail. It got to the point where I just stopped picking them up out of frustration. Do people really expect these trails to stay open if they incessantly litter them with beer cans and other trash? If you take it in, pack it out!
And to the a$$hat driving a red JK Rubicon on 33's with black wheels and three kids in the back seat - I would just assume to never see you on the trail again. You were extremely obnoxious and do not understand trail etiquette or what it means to be a member of this community of off-road enthusiasts. Not to mention the poor example you were (are) setting for the young people in your care. :shaking: *STEPPING DOWN*

Edit: I took the pics out because they were huge. I will resize and repost.

Agreed about those points, the guy with the JK was a complete ass, and it was bad seeing all the trash. All in all a great day of wheeling though. Glad we could help out with the H1, even though it delayed us a little while, it was worth it. The jacka$$ in the JK just went past him not even caring.

So happy to have a front locker, that thing changes the game big time! Can't wait for Crozet later in the month. I will try to get some of my pics up tomorrow, we just got back from Lake Norman. Got to call tomorrow about my bum winch.

I hope you get the winch covered under warranty.

When I got back home and unloaded, I could steer normally to the right and could barely turn the steering wheel to the left. I had to use two hands to get the wheels to turn left. I was too tired to mess with it beyond getting it back into the garage. I'm hoping it will fix itself

@tlucier, It was good to meet you and the rest of the crowd! I was the one in the toyota truggy and JB (jabrake88) had the blueish TJ. We tried to catch back up to you after Kodak, but went down Saw Mill instead of staying on RML (50/50 chance I guess). I tried to get someone on the CB, but was getting some crazy RF interference from my electric fan which probably shortened my range (or my ability to pick up any traffic) considerably. I will have to look into that.

I am out there at least once a month and some how I miss all the cool happenings. An H1 on Daniel, the hard to find Joe Darlington riding around in an Isuzu Vehicross (that I haven't seen at all until these pictures), and Jimmy and the rest of the gang cooking it up and having a good ol' time. I guess I missed the memo on this one.

As far as the trash goes its been pretty bad this summer. We have been picking up trash on the workdays, and just riding part of Rocky Mountain Loop one of our groups (we had split into 4 groups tackling different trails) ran out of trash bags. The campsites are along the trail are the worst. A lot of people have the misconception that the fire pit is a trash can, which it isn't. I guess they think metal and aluminum cans are flammable?

Anyway, great pics and it looks like you guys had a great time.:beer::beer:

Awesome, thanks Andy!
