V band before muffler?

Back on the exhaust on my Jeep and I keep going back and forth. Should I put a V band (or other style clamp) before the muffler on my exhaust? What about before and after the muffler?
I'm using the cheapest 2.5" pipe I could find on amazon so it rusting out and needing to be replaced is basically a guarantee.

Don’t trust the stainless clamp bands lol had to cut my exhaust to fix the upper link mount. And used the band clamp. @Jody Treadway was rushing me through rubicon at the ranch and I all of a sudden had a big block

That's what has me hung up. Solid welded throughout just sounds like a pain if I need to drop anything down the line.

V band is definitely a good idea but has to be pretty precise. You can buy the weld on ball socket type that has a bit more wiggle room.

I replaced the flange on my 99$ amazon manifold with a 2.5" v band clamp, pie cut for the engine and turn back, then another v band before and after the cat. then out the back. all 2.5 aluminized. tig welded the stainless and mig welded the rest. wire brush and wood stove paint. 4.7 stroker in 99 xj

Have 3 V-bands on the exhaust on my buggy. Fits great, zero leaks, easy to remove and reinstall. Cut the flat 3-bolt flange off the exhaust manifold and replaced with a V-band. Long section of exhaust runs under the floor then second V-band before the bullet muffler. Third V-band is before the muffler at the rear of the buggy.

I did the same thing on my Volvo ls swap. I like them. I also used the ball and socket stuff on my jeep. It's been good too.

MiG? Set the heat a bit lower and make sure it’s pretty darn clean. Get a small spool of .023 wire and sizzle it like bacon. Shouldn’t be much spatter coming off it. Work the wire from whatever is the thicker metal to the thinner metal and back with a tiny pause on the thicker metal. Make a bunch of stacked “C’s” in the line of travel.

Works every time.

Thanks! That's exactly how I've been practicing on the old exhaust pipe. I picked up .023 wire and tips and have the heat turned all the way down on my super old lincoln 220 machine

You still want to see penetration, a puddle, and work it around the pipe but, you’re not going for 1/4” inch tabs or suspension kind of speed/penetration. It’s a pretty quick pattern to get around the pipe.
