also know this, If you use the granny 4 speed, your gonna have to cut the dash out where the radio would go, to shift the tranny

just bend the shifter....think older ford truck shifters, comes up under dash and cuts a 45 back toward the seat.

the 4.3 would be a great motor, but according to Novak, the 4.3 is too tall for the XJ engine bay

4.3 and 350 is same 4.3 is only about 5" shorter and will use same drivetrain and front brackets,pullys,etc. a long time ago a guy on pirate put a bbc in an xj for desert use and it was also in jp mag. so a sbc can be done and id use it if thats all u got.but u better plan on a good cooling system.
