V8 fan spacer question

Howdy - 1972 Commando w/ 304 V8, going form Commando front clip with stock fan, radiator, etc, to CJ front clip, and it looks like there's not enough room for the radiator to fit as-is. However, there seems to be a ~2" spacer behind the fin, I'm wondering if I can just remove that, or get a smaller one, as I only need an inch or so to get it all to fit. If a smaller spacer will work, any good sources? Anything I'm missing?

I have some spacers and fans.

Sent while I should have been doing something constructive...
 
I still have several, & used to swap them around different setups. I believe the main purpose of spacers, is to center the blade in the shroud. Or to get the correct distance to/from, radiator.
