Can anyone verify for me that a VA title does not need to be notorized if a vehicle is bought in VA but going to be titled in NC....

thanks!

Simply, does it have a space for a notary seal and signature??? NC is one of the few states that require a notary on original "NC" titles. Pretty sure none of the border states require a notary but it's simply stated on the title if it's required. Notaries fill out most of a title so just look for the word "notary".

I know this is more than you wanted, but just cause my mouth is open... This puzzled me when I moved here along with the public not being able to obtain a temporary tag. But then I finally realized, NC is more lenient if caught without a tag as long as you have something written on paper explaining the situation / or so called - Bill of sale. A piece of cardboard placed in the rear window with "lost tag" will get you a free couple of passes but don't EVER put another tag from another vehicle or you face a SLEW of charges.

Good info....thanks....
Just checked....there is no official space for the notory's name or sig or stamp...doh!

Looks like you have your answer but just to add, I spoke to the DMV late last year about this same question. Answer is no need for a notary from VA (or the other NC border states as mentioned). Interestingly, there is a potential need for a DMV inspection (not the emissions or safety but a DMV inspector coming out) to get a title for a 35 year or older car brought in from out of state. Not sure if they pull this everytime or not but something to keep in mind if buying an older rig from outside NC.
