Just curious if anyone else was a victim of, or noticed an excessive amount of vandalism over the weekend.

Thursday night I parked my YJ at the Cardinal Apartments in Greensboro, its parked there normally because I rarely drive it. I went out to a 4th of July party Thursday and didn't plan to come home until sunday evening, get a call around 12 from a Greensboro Cop saying my jeep was one of 17 vandalized in the apartment complex and asked me to come home (I declined, drinking beer on the boat seemed like a better idea) didn't really tell me anything about the damage, seemed pretty overwhelmed.
My sister sends me pictures later, turns out they slashed just one tire on my jeep, but had really messed up other cars and not stolen anything. One newer mustang had all 4 tires slashed, convertible top cut open, busted windows etc... Several other cars had busted windows and slashed tires.

I guess I should consider myself lucky it was just one tire and not my soft top or anything, but it still really pisses me off. I did a lot of dumb shit as a kid, more than most... but I never slashed tires or vandalized cars.

We've all done dumb things, but messing with someone's car is the lowest of the low.

Worst I ever did to a car was a few of us moved a friends metro between a wall and a dumpster so you couldn't move it.

After excessive laughing and some long since misplaced photos we moved it back.

my mailbox and my neighbor's got hit with a bat on the 3rd. Ours was part of a huge string of mailbox vandalism in the area.
Its the first time anything in our neighborhood was vandalized. Thankfully, I have video of every car that entered and exited the neighborhood; I will catch the SOBs :D

A buddy and I went out when we were 17 and killed more mailboxes than should be possible... Unfortunately he just had to get one more on the way home and we got caught. Were charged with each and every one... had to repair them, pay fines, jail time, etc... Not to mention dealing with our parents. So like I said, I am far from perfect, but other than relocating a dead doe from the side of the highway to a nieghbors porch (Didn't realize it was a school day, kids shit all over themselves. Parents liked to call the cops for us working on jeeps and called it an eyesore", thats about the worst think I ever did.

I had a message on facebook with a name... seems kind of unlikely but going to look into it.

When I was a kid, we did stupid stuff, but vandalism wasn't one of them. I despise the kids that did this and I will do all I can to find them and make sure they pay for what they did. The $ isn't a huge deal but its about principle and they will do it again if not caught and likely in our neighborhood again.

Talking with the sheriff's office, there was about 50 mailboxes that hit in about 4 different neighborhoods. From what I heard, it made the front page of our newspaper.

Yeah, we did it the one time, we got caught... Never again. The dead doe on the nieghbors porch... my parents were furious because the little kids saw it and it was a big fuss, but the cops thought it was hilarious because they called 14 days in a row about the jeep being torn apart and bothering them. He laughed as he said "If we can prove you dumped the animal carcass, you will be issued a $100 littering ticket"

The variety of vehicles and damage seems so random... Thats what I don't get.

Random doesn't make any sense to me. The Office building was broken into too, nothing stolen from any vehicles or the office.

maybe they just rubbed their nuts all over your keyboards or mice....

in any case i'm sure there's a video of it somewhere, dumb shits cant help but video everything these days.

Honestly, scrolling through my facebook feed and everyone stating when and where they'd be that day (ie, parade, fireworks, the fair, family cookout), I'm surprised there weren't more thefts or acts of vandalism.

Precisely one of the reasons why I do not use Facebook (and more specifically, FourSquare).

One year for the 4th someone put firecrackers in my mailbox and blew it up. Was completely random, had not lived there long.

I'm just glad the YJ was parked there and not the XJ... I imagine myself sitting in the jeep with a pistol waiting for it to happen again if they had slashed one of my brand new 39.5 Iroks....

I hope you catch those little fawkers. We did a lot of dumb stuff in my neighborhood in Charlotte growing up, especially when the new homes were being built in the neighborhood that adjoined ours, but nothing like vandalism or destroying personal property. One of the least harmful but funniest was taking all the road barrels and barriers and blocking off two intersections so people just had to go in circles through two streets that made a loop til they figured it out. Got some good laughs, watched one old man in a cadillac run over a barrel he was so mad after his 3rd go round then put the things back at the end of the night. We would regularly block driveways with bags of leafs in the fall too.

haha that is pretty funny

We blocked a nieghborhood entrance with porto potties once... (Guys like @RenegadeT and @drkelly will know) The Vineyards in Summerfield.
Used to go to jobsites and wait for guys to go in the jons and drop smoke bombs down the tube and hold the door shut.
Lots of terrible shit... but never messed with anyones vehicles.

When we were kids, we used to play mailbox baseball, too. I was one of the first with a car, so I usually drove and a buddy would hang out the window with a bat. We stopped when one guy replaced his with a mailbox he welded up. He bent 3/16" plate into a horseshoe shape and boxed it with flat plate for the back and a boxed front door. When my buddy hit it with an aluminum ball bat at about 25 mph, the shock wave hit his wrists and shattered both of them. He dropped the bat and nearly fell out of the car. I had to explain to his mom what happened because he couldn't stop laughing/crying.

Never used a bat... Heard too many horror stories. Drove around playing mail box dodgeball... Throwing Bricks. Haha.

My idiot friend threw one at a rubbermaid mailbox though, damn near busted my windshield when it bounced back.

If someone did that to me at a job site I would prolly take a framing gun and nail there feet to the sub floor at the top of the stairs and push them over.

Haha, like I said we were asshole kids... I got chased once but never got caught. Jump into the truck bed and off we went.

We had one of our buddies come riding his bike back to the house laughing hysterically wanting us to follow him back to the construction site one afternoon. Turns out he took a random padlock he found in his dads garage and put it on a portajon while a guy was inside. When we got back there, there were a few guys trying to cut it off with bolt cutters. The guy in the can wasnt laughing but all of the other guys were.

Basically the same with the smoke bomb prank... Co workers usually just laughed. Pad lock would have been a lot better, then I wouldn't have had to run.

You know all you need is a good sized paper clip or twist tie. That way it's funny for the guys outside but they can let him out once it stops being funny
