Are there any "home remedies" to De-Varnish a gas tank? I've pressure washed it, filled it 3/4 way up with Drain-O and water. It works fairly well but I'm wondering if there and any better and or faster ways other than buying a new tank? Thanks

I've had luck with paint thinner and a length of chain. Put them in and shake the crap out of it for a while. The chain breaks the stuff loose and the paint thinner helps clean out the residue. I've only done this with lawn mowers and motorcycle tanks, but it should work on a bigger scale, you'll just need some help. Cap off all the holes before you do it.

That's the good stuff! Running that in your car is like smoking the resin after scraping the bowl. Not that I've ever seen that done. ;) Seriously, that's nasty crap and you need to get it all out or it will flake off and cause problems.

MEK. Wear gloves, goggles, use outdoors and have something to dump it into. You'll need wash it with thinner after using MEK. Kreem tank liner might be a good addition once it's cleaned
