Ok guys, I've been going over this a lot lately. I would like to get back into 4-wheeling so that I can do something that my 3 kids enjoy as well, since motorcycling is really just a one person thing. I am possibly trading my motorcycle to one of two rigs, and wanted to get your honest opinions.

'03 Grand Cherokee vs. '78 CJ7
GC: long arm 6" lift, 33's, v8, not sure of gearing yet, seats 5, new paint, tranny, full-time 4wd - I would change out to the selectable t-case if I were to get this

CJ7: 258 i-6, 3spd, both recently rebuilt along with good t-case, 33" tires, not much, if any lift, no rust, new top and seats, needs paint, only seats 4

Where the CJ can only increase in value from now, I assume the WJ won't have as good a value 5-10 years from now.
My kids would probably enjoy the CJ better, especially with the top down, but I see the WJ as the safer option, plus all 5 of us could fit. I actually never see all five of us going wheeling (my wife has done enough of that).

So, what would are your thoughts on this.........

Hardcore trail rig for 5 that sounds like a long armed wj to me. Good luck with your decision.

Resale will suck on either if you actually wheel it. I do love me some WJ, that's my vote also.

several years ago I traded my built YJ for a lifted ZJ, thinking the family would go with me more often. They didn't, And I hated not having an open top. So I ended up selling the ZJ and building my TJ. So my vote is for the CJ.

Fuel injected v8 with good heat and AC, that will fit your whole family. Why is this a difficult decision?

CJ7

CJ7. In 20 years it'll still be worth something.

CJs are cool, but unless you just want the open top, WJ beats it in every way. WJs are so cheap right now that resale value won't matter.
