A buddy of mine has started this program, drinking the shakes and recruiting people to buy the shakes, for them to recruit people, etc (think Amway but with weight loss shakes).

I am wondering if this is a scam, or is it legit? Anyone know anything about it? Thoughts on these types of businesses?

Well, Amway's been in business for 30 plus years so that's not a scam. A PITA maybe, but not a scam. It's the same business model but with shakes. My question is, if the shakes work and you lose the weight, why continue drinking them once you've lost the weight? Doesn't seem to me to be a lasting business. The thing about Amway is they sell soap (And pretty damn good soap too) among other usable products like vitamins etc. that you use and buy more of (they hope) indefinitely. You keep dirtying things up so you need more soap. You take the vitamins and turn your pee bright yellow and take more vitamins. You can only loose so much weight before you disappear and stop using the product.

Right now, the Body by Vi shakes are really taking off! I know 2 distributors - my neighbor has been selling them for awhile now & its his only source of income. Needless to say, he's doing very well for himself! My sister-in-law became a distributor this month after losing 20 lbs. drinking the shakes. I haven't gotten an update on how its working out financially yet. I've actually started looking into myself to earn some extra money but I wanted to see how the shakes worked for me & my husband (mulishajoe) before I decided to promote/sell them. So far,
I've been drinking 2/day for the last week & love them! With no other dietary or exercise changes, I've already lost 3lbs. Not too bad for having pizza, pasta, burgers, & steak for dinner :)

I did what I have learned the hard way, to do=Goggle IT! Just a quick look at 5 Reviews; lot of them are actually ADDS! Looks like it may be a fair product, but if you've tried Slim Fast, drinking shakes, gets OLD!
I more realistic review, mentioned, you will need to buy flavoring, & ect, & shows how such a Good, buy, ends up costing lots of $. They get you on auto-ship, & try to sell you all their other products! Looks like a REAL, come-on to me!:sniper:

From what I've read their supplements are high quality, but also overpriced. The company is obviously growing very quickly.
The shakes are loaded with stimulants that could be problematic for people with certain conditions. (http://www.livestrong.com/article/534155-the-side-effects-of-vi-slim-diet-supplements/)
All multi-level marketing is pretty damn annoying. I got a Facebook friend request from some guy in Sanford this a.m. that I've never heard of. Sure enough his profile pic was a BMW and his career was listed as an independent promoter for Vi. Denied.
The "Free BMW" program is based on your own credit score. Make no mistake about it...If you don't perform you'll be paying for it out of your own pocket or defaulting on the lease and messing up your credit score.

He was telling me about this free BMW, I told him it sounded too good to be true, so that means it probably was.

Ain't NO BMW free. Even if it's given to you you'll spend money on it. BMW stands for Break My Wallet for a reason.

I suspect the "free BMW" thing is used to get people to continue the program after they've lost interest. It's brilliant when you think about how many people signed up for Amway or Quixtar in their heyday and quickly fell off the wagon. It's a lot harder to quit or even slow your promotions when you're locked into a $500-$600/month payment/lease.

From what I read a while back they qualify you for the free BMW very quickly and with very little sales volume if your credit score is good. That's red flag number 1. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain. If you're making money for the company they'll gladly pay for the car. They can always drop you if you fail to be profitable for them.

I'd advise people not to even think about it unless they're doing this full time and they have weaned themselves away from marketing to their family/friends. If you can't cut it when your circle of family/friends runs dry you'll be glad you didn't sign any papers on a new BMW.

They also have a weight maintenance formula, which is what my wife uses, as well as other things if I am not mistaken.

These are nothing like slimfast! There are tons of different flavors plus the ability to create your own combinations. But as you said, you have to purchase all that stuff extra, so it will add up. I have to admit I was very skeptical about my wife buying it, but I am now considering trying it to help me lose weight.

You will lose weight from it, its a really good product. I've drank them for the last three months and I've lost about 15 pounds, but that's about all I can stand to lose without disappearing. I by no means went after this to make money or to start a business as i already have one to run, I haven't signed anyone up and I never will. I have a hard time eating breakfast in the morning and its easy to do and really quick, or when I get home late so I don't have to have a heavy meal.....just drink it and go to sleep.
I know several people that have the BMW's and its a full time job, the biggest mistake people make is quitting their full time job with benefits in order to do this. At some point people are going to stop drinking the shakes cause they've already lost their weight or they've missed food too much like myself. You have to be a certain kind person to really excel in this kind of business. If it works for you and you can make the right contacts then more power to you, just dont think you're going to retire with it, you'd be too low in the pyramid.

Oh yeah, and if you're recruiting "business partners" at Best Buy it would be good to brush your crusty teeth in addition to tucking your finest Chaps polo into your baggy jeans. It's hard to listen to your pitch when all I can think about is how bad your breath is.

Sorry guys...Just venting on my last trip to BB. :)

My wife got sucked into it for three months. She lost 0 pounds. The woman she bought them off told her to buy the supplement vitamins and metoboost powder for her water. She lost 1 pound. So for 90 days and almost 400 bucks she ended up loosing 1 pound. I went to Costco and picked up Naturade meal replacement shakes for 30 bucks and now she has those for breakfast and dinner and she runs with me and shes loosing weight. The shakes are delicious though.
