... and afterwards had the gall to tell me that with the modifactions I had done the vehicle had no business at all on the road and was one of the most unsafe things he had ever seen.

At least he had that part right.. :flipoff2:

Yeah, we went past that speed "trap" last night.. Someone's gonna get some balls and put a rock through a window..

Just be glad you got where you were going. I remember about 18 years ago a friend of mine had a toyota with 35s on it. He was going to Danville from Roxboro and got stopped. The VA trooper escorted him back to the state line. Said His truck was not legal and to go home or be towed.

Who said he got where he was going? The jeep might have come back on a trailer pulled by a green dodge ;)

Ex OTR trucker here.

1 some states do have strickter State trooper. IMHO, Ohio, Indiana, Conn, and Va. are some of the tough one. But the nastist was in Ark. Maine on the other hand has some of the niceist. I was pulled, ticketed, in maine for to long of a trialer (53') w/o a permit. Nice LOE did his job, told me a great local place to park (food, phone, and entertainment) until I was able to get the permit for the tariler.

2 Alot of states use old patlor car for speed contol. I have seen them on I485 arond charlotte. I love them, after they scare me, they just sit there and do not come after me like the real one do. Charlotte even parks them in front of convenace store.

So, if you were actually doing the speed limit, or somewhere close, would you still have shit yourself ?

I'm guessing not, in which case, parking the squad there was effective, the fact you don't like it is of little consequince

Kevin

actually i still probably would have, considering hes inches from the road, completly pitch black until im right on top of him, on the left side of the road rather than the right.

Man that sucks for ya. I guess ive been lucky when i travel through virginia cause i have never got a ticket (thank god) and my truck is taller than that. I actually got pulled over once in Martinsville but the cop wanted to talk about my truck, no ticket. Hope everything works out for you.

So... .which one "is for lovers"?

Virginia cops get paid on comission. That's why they write a ticket every time. When was the last time they said slow down or I'll give ya a ticket next time? I had an expired tag by a few days and got pulled over and the cop sent me walking. He said if I drove the vehicle illegally after getting a ticket that he would have it impounded.

The last time I got pulled in VA, actually. For 6mph over.

whoa.. seriously (I am gullable... I just want to make sure) not much you could do about that.. but I would have remembered the name of the cop for future reference. I had a cop want to arrest me because I talked to much while she was giving me a ticket. I am sure I would have got arrested if that happened to me

Any officer of the court (yes, cops are officers of the court) who takes any consideration (that's money, goods, or services for those in Rio Linda) for the discharge of his/her duries is guilty of a felony in all 50 states in the US, not to mention being in violation of the chain of bail bond procedure. So if a cop gets a commission, everyone involved in the receipt and payment of that commission, right on up to the governor, is breaking the law. If a cop in another state asks you to pay a fine on the spot, pay it, because that bail bond procedure is not recognized by NC and the courts in NC will not acknowledge anything beyond the fact that you had an encounter with an officer in another state.

I spent 2.5 hours on the side of a road in Staunton, VA (where my G'ma lived and wife's parents still live). I was out cruising in my lowrider (hey, it was 15 years ago). He pulled me and wrote up about 15 infractions. Everything from too low (.875" ground clearance:D ) to illegal tint (back 3 windows were double limo because they were blocked off due to the stereo wall- 12 15's). He pulled my seats out, my mats out, had me remove evry interior panel including all of the trim panels for the stereo, and took pictures of everything. He eventually told me to not turn on the stereo at ANY volume, drive straight to and from my G'ma's house, and not to bring the car into "HIS" state again. No ticket, but a bad taste that I still have for any cop in that town (which I visit about 4 times a year).

They don't seem to look twice at the Mini van though.:flipoff2:

I have had the Commando to my Dad's house in Roanoke and got approached by a LEO at a store. I was expecting the worst, but he said he liked the Jeep and wished it was registered in Va so he could ticket it and get a bettter look.
