Well I found a Vulcan (Harbor Freight) OmniPro 220 local. It came with Mig gun and stick electrode holder, can run flux core, Mig and stick right out of the box. Can add an aluminum spool gun and a TIG touch and go torch later.

They are hard to find it seems, selling well. Reviews on it have been great and it has a 1 year unconditional moeny back gaurantee. So I figure what the heck lets try it. If it is a good unit I just saved $500 over the comaprable Lincoln Unit, if it is junk I return and get the Lincoln unit anyway. I ran a couple of beads with it just playing on some 10 gauge and 120 DOM and it seems to weld pretty damn good. Laid nice beads after I remember to turn on the gas, used to flux core, lol.

Will post up some reviews of it as I get to play with it.

A friend who is a pipe welder just posted on FB about the Vulcan. Said it was a solid welder..... I was shocked. I've been thinking of getting rid of both my Linclon's to get the new MP machine but after seeing his post I'm considering the Vulcan.

Here are a couple of pics, just tacked this stuff together to test the 50amp outlet I added to run the thing. Will clean up some scrap and try some more in the near future. Going to Truss, tube and gusset my axle, that was the driver for getting it. Do not be too had the welds themselves, just plugged it in and tacked some stuff together.

I'm sure it would be fine for non commercial welding.

I've been dying to get my hands on one. I was looking at a couple MP units, but this one seems to knock them all over in the options department. I'd like to play with their TIG welders, too.

I have had a HF 110v 90a fcaw unit and it's been good to me.. not commercial use, but I use it often enough. Never had any feeder it electrical problems with it, only one time did I have an issue with it welding good and it was a bad spool of wire. Yeah I know it's not the Vulcan unit, but surely they kept the knowledge from the other units they've produced and applied it to the newer units. I'm also looking into getting one of the MP units. I'd love to be able to try out Tig and be able to burn rods - much higher production rate than my wimpy 90a fcaw..
