I just came across a set of waggy axles, d44 and model20 that I am thinking of putting on a 88yj. They were give to me and I am going to use them just for that reason.

What I was wondering is how do you go about bypassing the vac. disc. junk on the front? Is it as simple as just covering the place and using regular one peice inner shafts for a d44?

I have never had any dealings with this kinda axle and would like to have your take (other than ditching and getting a non vac. axle). These were free so I am using them until I get my 1 tons built.

The biggest problem is -
That model D44 front uses a different carrier and there are only a few limited ratio options.

I wouldn't invest the money in trying to build that one.

Both axles are out of the same jeep, so they match F/R. Basically all I need to do is swap inners and change the seal.

I am not putting any more money than I have to in this, I am saving up all I can to get me a Front D60.

There are some kits that you can install to make the vacumm disconnect a mechanical. or you mabe able to use the solid axle on that side not sure. you could get a non vacuum disconent axle pretty cheap. Just check on www.cfsjc.org or www.ifsja.org the model 20 is a very good axle about as strong as a 9 inch.

I have a DSD bare housing you should be able to swp all your stuff into and use new gears/lockers for $75. Let me know if you want it.
