I just recently got a Dana 44 from a 76 Chevy pickup with flat top knuckles and a Dana 44 out of a Waggy. My plan is to put the Chevy flat tops on the Waggy axle, run chromo axles and a lock right. The Waggy axle is just the bare axle no guts or outers so I plan on using the good Chevy parts. Does anyone see any issues with my plan?

Swap from the knuckles out to Chevy parts. Put whatever gears you need on an open carrier, slap in the lock right, slide the chromoly shafts in there, and you're done. If you use Chevy outers, the stub shaft MAY be different from Jeep to Chevy, not sure. I'm more well versed on Dana 60s than 44s.

It'll be pretty straightforward. I'm going to be doing the same thing with a Waggy 44 that will be going under a late 90s Nissan pickup.

Everything From The Ball Joints Out Is The Same On The Waggy and Chevy 44s

On my buddy's YJ we cut the spring hangers and shackle mounts off and outboarded them the 1/4" on either side, no new parts required. Remember that the end at spring hanger has to move outboard as well, not just at the shackle end.
