Wanting to spend a few days on trails in NC

This summer, I'd like to take the wife out to western NC.. We are in the piedmont, so it isnt too far.

Looking at youtube of some places in Clyde and other areas close to there with some trails. I have a 2018 frontier pro4x, stock.. but still pretty capable.

Not wanting any crazy trails since we will be alone but I'd like to get out on some with water crossing, etc.

Anyone have suggestions on somewhere we could go for 3-4 days?

Get there early just after sunrise or late afternoon to have a better chance of seeing the elk. Beautiful scenery with lots of hiking and history. We ride through pretty often to just relax and unwind.

Start looking at FS roads on a map that shows gate closures. Then plan you a route. I have been driving them for year and find new free camp spots and neat stuff constantly.

this is a fun ride. come in from lake James and stop at the fonta flora brewery for a few..

West side of Linville Gorge is a nice ride, awesome pull offs to overlook the Gorge.
