Warming it up...

Who warms their engine up before driving?

Carb'd vehicle...let it warm up. Anything else, hop in and go. I liken this to 'what oil should I use' conversations. Some guys have 3k OCI's and have failures within 100k, and others have 30k OCI's and can go 500k. I don't think it truly matters any more (maybe you get 395k instead of 400k by not warming up), but is habitual carryover from when it was a necessity.

I let the oil pressure gauge come up and then Im gone. I dont dog it until it gets warm though.

Don’t like putting a load on cold oil.

this x2. but not always doable. when you take a vehicle some place, go inside the place, then come back out a few hours later - its not always possible to let it warm up if you have some place to be.

but still. what you said x10000.

There are apparently 2 types of people in this world:
Crank it and wank it, or heat it before you beat it?

If I can’t warm up before I drive it, I drive completely easy and slow like a grandma with as little throttle/acceleration as possible.

I don’t care how the economics of fuel consumption are for warming,

1) no load, so little fuel consumption
2) gas is cheap compared to a short Block

Mine is middle age now, but still looks like a newer model, and enjoys a long slow warm up before I get on her hard and fast.
