My trusty old 8000 is having issues. When spool in or out it keeps turning after I let off the button. Not sure if it's the controller or the solenoids. Was hoping to borrow a controller from one of my club members but I think there stuff may be newer than mine!:D But we will see shortly.
Have any of you had this issue and did you get it figured out?

Does it stop eventually or just keep running? Sounds like a solenoid sticking or maybe a bad controller. Can you unplug the controller and make the winch stop?

Ive got an older style controller for mine if you want to try it.

It'll stop eventually, I've got a friend who is loaning me his controller to see if that works, and then I'll know if my controller is bad or not. Thanks.
Clay, I've got one coming tonight.. Thanks

If it does the same thing try tapping on the solenoids to see if it quits. If so I'd say it's time to replace all 4 or upgrade to a contactor.

I used a different controller with same results, it doesn't stop like it should. I know it's going to wind as the motor loses power when the switch is let off but it's way too long like 6 seconds or so and was hanging up longer with extended winching on my last trip. I looked at Warn's website Troubleshooting FAQs and my symptoms were not listed, but solenoids are working, just maybe too slow? It's when I'm spooling either way.

I agree with all the above. Solenoids possibly sticking. My M8000 stops pretty quickly once I let off the buttons. I upgraded mine to a contactor using the Superwinch unit from Summit Racing: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/spw-90-14452/overview/

My M8274 spools so fast that even when I let off the buttons it runs on for quite a few feet. I always have to yell at people to keep their distance with that thing.
