Water Crossing Fail

I stumbled across a picture of this jeep on facebook yesterday, buried up to the windshield in silt on a riverbank. Did some digging for the story and found a video of the failed water crossing.



Forgive me if this is a repost. I actually searched first and couldnt find anything about it.
 
Heh... I remember when that happened. I actually know a couple of those guys. Wheeling in Alaska is fawking nuts.
 
Well, you have a choice. You can try to cross the river and hope for the best. You can wait and see if conditions change, but realize that the river is just as likely to rise. And you're 20 miles from the nearest town.

IIRC, they crossed the river in the AM at the beginning of the ride. They were on their way home when the Jeep washed away.

I *think* that's the Knik River... but not 100% sure.
 
That is crazy!! Who in the hell in there right mind would cross that in a truck? I wouldnt have gone in that water in a damn boat let alone a jeep! More balls than i got i guess but hey, if your going to be dumb, you gotta be tough!!
 
Instead of wheeling in Alaska, I think I'll stay home and make sure the beer doesn't go anywhere...

Seriously. Forget that.

how come people get in a jeep and they start thinking they are in a boat.

that must be that "jeep thing" everyone talks about.
 
Ouch that sucks,That looks just like how I killed my Dakota.
