Like the title says I got a water leak in the Cherokee.

It started a few months ago, after a rain I had a good inch in the front driver floorboard.

I had taken the doors off and didn't get them on right. I realligned the front doors and thought I had it fixed. I checked today and guess what, got an inch of water in the floor.

I pulled the carpet a few weeks ago and left the foam backed rubber on the firewall under the peddals. The top surface of the pad shows no sign of wter. I pulled the kick panel and it is dry behind it. The door jam is also dry. I don't see anything under the dash that is wet.

My best guess is, the water is running under the window trim and down the firewall into the floor. Is this typical for Cherokees?

Any ideas? Suggestions? Oppinions? I will even entertain smartass remarks.....

Probably coming from your cowl area. Water runs in and into your heater lower plenum. There's a drain tube on the bottom of the plenum. If it's clogged, the water backs up and spills into the floorboard area.

On my old Cherokee, I had the same issue.

It turns out it was coming from the little black button in the door jam that tells when the door is ajar. It was sneaking in through that and then into the carpet.

When I pulled the kick panel, it looked dry, but when we water tested it, it came pouring straight into the floorboard.

Thanks for the tips
