So, we've been through that I'm putting in a new water main. Pipe is in the ground. I need to replace the 3/4 fitting at meter with a 1" fitting. What the hell do I call it when looking for it? And where can I get it? I've looked around Lowe's and HD and don't see anything similar. I may have to deal with a real plumbing supplier.

So, it seems that it's just a barbed fitting for 1" line with whatever thread is on it. I don't know what size without taking it apart. I think i can take a measurement and get close.

Looks like a union with a NPT to barb fitting threaded into it.

Whaddoo I win?

Also, using a hose clamp in a below-grade situation seems sketchy as shit. It's a good recipe for an unexpected $500 water bill.

Warm the stiff pipe with a heat gun. Then clamp. The plastic gives more. Helps guarantee a seal. I like compression fittings on any tube or pipe. Shame the world doesn't make them universal.

The clamp seems pretty standard to me on black roll pipe. That one has been in the ground 30 years.

The Ford System makes many couplings designed to transition from NPT to tubing. That is what was recommended to me when I ran tubing to my shop and barn. Once the transition to tube was done, I then used crimp fittings. The local Ferguson had all of the various stuff, while no big box store had anything remotely close.

Very common but warm it before clamping like WW said or it will leak.
