I bet if you sprayed several thin coats of polycrylic you'd be in good shape.. they used to sell it in spray cans BTW FWIW.

From what I've been reading, the most common ways to seal (other than acetone melting), in order of ease to remove are (poly)urethane, acrylic, and silicone. Pretty much same approach as sealing circuit boards.
