That video was surreal w the sunset in the background and the ribbon of the twister streaking by. Tornadoes in the dark or at night are very frightening to me. In the outbreak earlier this year, one came 1/4 mi. from our house. I've never taken shelter in 46 yrs. living in N.C. but My wife and I and the dogs sought shelter in the bathroom in the center of our modest home that afternoon. It was a very tense 5 mins. as the thing roared by. All we could hear in the bathroom was the very loud sounds of the extremely heavy rain and limbs, sticks and debris falling on the roof, the loud bomblike sounds of the thunder and the dogs pitifull whineing. We saw the warning on the local news 15 mins. before, and minutes later it got dark as 9pm, at 3 in the afternoon! the wind that gusted constantly all that day went slack calm just before we ran for cover. I've never seen anything like it. The rapid darkness sent a feeling of impending doom through I and my wife. The thing was fast too, the thunder went boom,....Boom... BOOM,....BOOM!!,....louder each time w no rumbleing at all, It was like a giant Stomping towards us and then moving away, BOOM! .... Boom, ... boom ......I wish the best for all the victims and survivers of this storm, and feel sorrow for the deceased and their friends and family.
