Here is the first mod. Stripped out the carpet and put in Herculiner. Turned out pretty well I think...

Decided to go ahead and paint my headlight bezels. Also, the jeep came with chrome grill inserts when I got it which I hated. I took them out, but from where they had been there for so long, the paint looked rough (as you can see from the 1st pic below)..so I painted them and put them back in...look pretty good I think!

Lift & Tires

Just got the lift in Wednesday and picking tires up tomorrow...going to be a fun weekend for the Jeep!

Looks good man! This build takes me back to '02 or so when I had a TJ and we put a 4" lift on it. What a difference a lift and a set of tires makes, huh? This makes me miss my TJ a little.

Thanks man...yea, putting the lift and tires on it change the look completely...night and day! Appreciate the feedback!

Friend's Silky Terrier loving the Sunday drive!

Looking good. Everyone knows the 03 was the best year ever for the TJ! I'll bet that post lift made it a breeze.

Thanks man! It definitely helped! Couldn't imagine doing one without it!

Rock Lights

So, bought a set of cheap off road lights from Walmart. Came with 2 lights, wiring and switch for less than $20. I ended up not using the switch that came with the set and used a more sturdy flip switch instead...looked better. I mounted the switch onto my shifter console. I really didn't install these for rock climbing so I put one on each side of the Jeep. Main purpose for installing them was so I could see what was to the side of me when offroading or driving through the woods at night. Let me know what you think!

Tinted Signals/Lenses

To further black out the Jeep, I decided to tint the turn signals and tail lights. I used Nite-Shades. I put 3 coats on the tail lights, 2 coats on the head lights and 4 coats on my signals. Didn't turn out as dark as I thought it would but I think its enough to look good.

Came home to see the family for the weekend...here are a couple of bonus photos :)

Here is my Grams about to take her first ride on the Jeep:

Instrument Panel LEDs

So, decided to switch out my dull gauge lights with some LEDs. Ordered 5 lights for the instrument panel and 3 lights for the HVAC from superbrightleds.com. All 8 lights ended up costing around $22 shipped...so not too bad.

For the instrument gauge lights, you need 5 of the 74-BHP's. For the HVAC, you need 3 of the NEO4-BHP's. (These are the BLUE lights...which is what the "B" is for. Also come in Red, Green and Purple)
ai900.photobucket.com_albums_ac210_vjw0307_Jeep_Lighting_2011_10_25101311.jpg

I removed the 2 long screws from the panel under the steering wheel and removed the panel. To remove the upper panel, you remove the 2 screws on the front beside the steering wheel. You'll also need to remove the panel on top of the dash in front of the windshield (defrost panel is what I call it). It pops out fairly easy. There are 3 screws under it that are connecting the upper panel to the dash...remove those 3 and then pull out your instrument panel slightly and disconnect the 2 wiring harnesses that are connected to the back.

Here is the back of the instrument panel with the 5 stock lights removed and a picture of what the stock lights look like when they are removed. They twist out fair easily by hand...if you can't twist them or have large fingers, just gently use pliers.

You will separate the lights from the brown plug and replace them with the purchased lights and then put them back into the panel. Plug up and see if the lights are working. If any aren't working, remove them and turn turn them 180 degrees and reinsert.

Here is the final product:

Much brighter and look much better! As always, opinions welcome.

Winch

Installed the new 12,000lb Badlands winch over the weekend...AND before people start bashing my winch choice...I paid $250 new, in-the-box for it...hard to beat that! I've also been looking for a unique way to store my tools in my jeep...spent $10 on an old military ammo box...flat blacked it and now it houses my jumper cables and random tools. Its going to be mounted behind the center console since I've removed the back seat.

I've done quite a few things here lately...

Finally got new seat covers...got these Rugged Ridge neoprene seat covers last week...look lite in this photo but are black and look great!

Well...I recently moved to SC for a new job and haven't had much time to do anything to the Jeep until recently. I know there are a lot of people who are anti-air intake replacement but I got a good deal on the K&N Intake and decided to install one. Has a more pleasant sound before and I can tell a SLIGHT difference in power. Was super easy to install...probably took a little over an hour in my driveway...and a lot of that was chasing stuff down because it was so windy.

Also added a set of KC Slimlites...130W

Nice build. I did the same led swap to my 03 TJ. At first I couldn't deal with the needles being so dark at night since the blue doesn't illuminate the orange needles as well. Here's a tip that helped me out. If you take some fingernail polish remover and remove the orange paint and then do a light coat of your choice of bright fingernail polish on the underside of the needles it helps a ton. My needles are tons brighter now. I can take a pic if you'd like

Thats a great idea...shoot me a pic if you have one...think I might end up doing something like that because I have a hard time seeing the needles now!

Here you go. It made a huge difference; I have no problem seeing the needles now. This is in my garage with no lights on and no flash.
