Weather permitting a small group of us are going to Uwharrie on Thursday 5/4/06 around.... noon ish or so. Doing it during the week to avoid a crowd and just because we can. We don't care who goes along but... (Not trying to be strong, but this is the way it is.)

1. If you're excessivley showing your ass... ex - you're half drunk and decide to cut donuts 10 feet away from my jeep and your slam into my jeep or throw rocks and break my glass.... Most likely you're going to get your ass beat.

2. Don't start any shit with anybody - If you're being a total pain in the ass to the group you will leave us or most likely get your ass beat.

3. If you get hung up because you're doing something completely stupid, me nor my group will pull you out.. I'll give you a ride to a gas station or something, but I'll leave your ride sitting there.

4. Don't bring anything with you that will get you a felony, leave that shit somewhere else.

We may or may not stay all night, just depends on how everyone feels/what time we get done, how much fun we're having, how much they've had to drink. Bringin some camping gear/food in case. I've never been here, so any input, quickest way to get there from winston salem?? I'll give more details about a week out.

Take 52 south to 64. Take 64 west over to 109. Take 109 south until you get there. Takes me anywhere from 45 - 60 minutes from WS. You could also take 109 all the way there but it is slower.

I agree. This goes for the whole season. I hate stupid people.

Nope, never been with anyone from the board that I know of. I just don't want anyone who has no respect for my safety/property with us. I also don't want to burn up my drivetrain because you wanted to see if your stock suburban with street tires could go through 2 1/2 feet of mud. And yeah I hate stupid people too.

Hehehe, that may be one of the funnier "invitations" I have ever seen.
Amen to the stupidity up there, I am planning on avoiding it entirely on weekends if I can get off of work. Every weekend trip has had some bad experience, traffic jams cause someone was stupid, asshats drunk as #@#@#@ on 4 wheelers flipping, getting stuck, blocking the trail etc etc, asshats in jeeps/trucks drunk as #@)(#@ doing the same, people yelling at you for "taking to long" to go up a rock, then when you let them around you they happily snap a control arm, and ask for help fixing it :(

But it's still fun, and MOST of the people I have met up there ahve been pretty decent.

I couldn’t help but laugh myself – but after witnessing countless instances of ‘4x mental midgetry’ over the years (much of it in Uwharrie :shaking: ), I know where you’re coming from…

I sure as Hell wouldn’t want any of the idiots that I’ve seen along for the ride!

If you do decide to stay the night (and you don’t mind anyone seeing you hanging around with some Isuzu off-roaders  ), a few of us will be arriving at Arrowhead Campground on Thursday, in-advance of our main group. --- We’ll have plenty of room to spare.

What to expect:
You’ll see mostly red clay with lots of rock outcroppings… quite a few elevation changes (a couple are relatively steep)... a number of ‘log-bridge’ creek crossings… and some rather mild mud holes here and there.
If the trails are dry (and a few by-passes are utilized from time to time), just about everything in Uwharrie can be run with a set of 31-inch A/Ts mounted on your average 4x4. – But if the trails are WET, things can get mighty entertaining out there on some of those steeper climbs (where M/Ts, locker(s), and sometimes even a winch can become a necessity).

If we don’t see you – hope you have a blast!

Cheers!

Still going on THursday?

If so, I'd love to go along, and will be leaving from Winston Area Also, and i hate asshats, and am allergic to dumb people, so i encourage your 'rules' that you posted. May or may not stay the night, gotta go to the big car show in Charlotte @ the Speedway this weekend.

If I go...I'll be sure to wear my "You Can't Fix Stupid" shirt...;)

I'm out of town Mon-Wed of that week...but just might need to take Thursday off and run some trails...

Take your own advice here..."how much they've had to drink." Should be water or soda or Gatorade or juice...just not "daddy juice"!

x2. Alcohol is verboten in the Forest. That includes trails and campgrounds.

OK, so I’m an IDIOT…

I just looked at that date again, and realized that I somehow inverted the 5/4.
Our group is heading down this week/weekend… with one or two of us arriving later today/tonight, on 4/5 - with several more rolling in on Thursday.

(DUH! :shaking: )

Cheers!

Still going on THursday

Weather permitting. Just looking to avoid a tornado or Flood, that's all.

I'll let you know where to meet up in W-S about a week out.

Does anyone know where to get a list of the park rules and regulations??

Which park? Don't know of any National Parks on the east coast that allows OHV's...

If you ment Uwharrie National Forest the rules are simple.
No alcohol
No firearms (unless at the firing range)
No off trail riding
No stupid

That should about cover you.

If I can get my truck finished by then i will be there for some wheling on my birthday.

It's in what I would describe as foothills so there will be elevation changes. The three trails with notable obstacles are Daniel, Rocky Mtn. Loop, and Dutch John. I was there last weekend and it's groomed over the winter so right now Uwharrie is at it's easiet, especially Dutch John. If you come back after a month or two it will be harder. It's about 20 miles of trails with big rocks here and there.

Most of the trails have bypasses so you should be able to go just about anywhere in a 4x4 rig. The one exception is the ledge on Daniel. For that you'll want a decent approach/depart angle which means either a Jeep, bigger tires/lift, or a willingness to hammer your rig.

As for directions, I would drop this into maps.google.com and follow it:
4021 NC Highway 109 N
Troy, NC 27371
(910) 572-3474

That's el dorado outpost. You'll stop there to buy your trail pass anyway.

OK, We're going to try to meet up about 12 ish.... shoot the shit for a few and go by no later than 1. I guess we're gonna meet at the parking area near the Wolfs Den Trail unless someone has any other suggestions. Still bringin some campin gear/chow just in case.

The only way we won't go is if we get a lot of rain on the day before. I don't want to go to a mudfest. All of those trail would be tough (dangerous to my vehicles well being) if muddy.

If you're coming from the W-S area and want to train along, let me know and we'll meet somewhere near 52/64.
