Hey anyone else get hit hard by the storms that came through last Thursday night? My work got hit here off Sandy Ridge but we made out pretty lucky and had minor damage compared to some of the others in the area.

That went about 1/2 mile away from my work on National Service road. When I came to work Thursday morning, I turned from Market St. to Sandy ridge rd, and couldnt believe the carnage. 2ft diamter trees snapped like toothpicks, there was a tree on about every house. I still see truck trailers on their side along Santee Rd (?). The Farmers Market is still a mess too. They righted the giant Cheerwine can pretty quickly though

I work in Clemmons, about 3/4 of a mile from where the Tornado touched down. A guy came in saying he drove through part of someones house to get into work. We toured Clemmons (what we could anyway) around Midnight or so and wow..... There were lots of huge trees down. Lots of houses missing shingles, gutters, siding and damaged fences. Some houses had dozens of trees down. It's a really nice area that got torn up. On my Saturday commute they had Frye Bridge open again, there were a few homes leveled..

All the damage was in a pretty small area. A stretch of 1/8 of a miles or so wide by 1 1/2 or so miles long.

About 12 midnight we got hail for about 20 minutes. Hail was about 1 1/2 inch, big stuff. Tore the chit out of the clear panels on my porch. Broke a glass skylight. Broke the glass on one of my Solar panels. Dented my truck, and the cars...No damage to the Jeeps...:)

I was at my girlfriends house on Hampton road, the tornado went right over the top of us! No damage though. I feel bad for the folks on frye bridge. I heard it was pretty nasty down underpass road too.

Did any one see the train tracks that were pulled up by the tressles on idols road? i heard about it but didnt see it first hand.

The box van on frye bridge accross from treatment center was amazing....it was ripped to shreds. gives testament to jsut how strong the winds were!

I work right off of little Santee Rd. across the street from the lumber yard. We had part of our roof peeled back in one section of the building but we are up and running business as usual today.

We were in Robbinsville trout fishing...storm caught us by surprise about 3 miles from the car.

It was rough up there.
A 40' tall tree missed my bud by less than 5', and a large limb "V" 'd a truck bed right beside my Tahoe...

But we were all ok and limited out right after the rain subsided :rock-on:

i live downtown...suppose to be nasty near me but i just got a bunch of rain. drove past sandy ridge and PTI yesterday and saw tons of torn up trees etc etc. g/f sayd clemmons was pretty bad. and saw on the news that a few airplanes at PTI were torn up.

I have worked about 20 hours of overtime since Friday night keeping cell sites on the air...:driver:

I heard of one touching down right near the Farm in Lincolnton, but everything (including Chad's house) was okay.

yeah, the news made out like sandy ridge was destroyed. i admit that there was a lot of damage, but nothing like clemmons/advance.

The only reason they focused on that area was because the sherriff dept wasnt letting news crews down frye bridge.

dude, the beer distributor was levelled, what could possibly be worse
well, also there was a casualty.
I'm just talking crap, I don't even think I've seen pics, just what I drive by.

Since nothing but weather was on TV, we slept through it all in K'ville, got the day off Friday as all the roads were blocked to work (McCloud rd is where I work). The wife comes home from work Friday and says that many of her students told her that they had to sleep in the basement:lol: If death wants you, it's gonna get you;)

We used to fish at the dam some until it got overran with trash. Last time I was there was 2001 ish and you could have easily filled thirty 90 gallon trash bags. Sometime around that time they also posted new trespassing signs.

We had some pretty good hail for about 10-15 minutes. I don't know if it dented my truck, as it already has so many its impossible to tell. Had me pretty worried though!

(edited. stupidity of my youth is not the wisest thing to post on the open web, especially when it comes to wheeling locations)
