when i built my k-5 a 4 years ago, i went round and round about the rims i was going to buy. i wanted something different and something that you didn't see on every other truck. i decided to get moto-metal skull rims(punisher)

well fast forward 4 years and my wife gets a msg on facebook asking if she was the same person that purchased a set of rims in 2010. she replied and we get a phone call today and it seems they have recalled those rims and told me we can go to their website and pick the rim of my choice to replace the ones i bought 4 years ago. they will also pay for the tire shop of my choice to remount my tires.(replacement rims just can't be chrome, must be black/machined)

here is my dilemma, i like my rims and there really wasn't anything i thought fit the look i liked on the blazer. the reason they are recalled is because they have had issues with them cracking.

here is the website i must chose from www.wheelpros.com (must be 8x6.5 lug pattern)

Is it a straight replace with ANY rim on the website?

Seems the XD808 is the closest look to what you have...or the xd812

Or you could go with whatever is most expensive and sell them lol

Well I guess the question is, how concerned are you about the ramifications of them developing cracks?
Although the company may require you to sign a hold harmless or similar b/c they'll want to CYA from lawsuit

But I'm w/ ^^ those are way cooler

Didn't know American Racing made a beadlock, but those are badass!

i like the beadlocks but i just didn't see the need for them. the blazer is just street driven, i bought jeeps to beat up on the trails instead of constantly "pinstriping" the blazer. has anyone ever had an issue with running beadlocks on the street? (police/inspection)

I really like those Menaces.

I have the SLAB bead lock from them, and never have had any type of issue with (police/inspection). Overall, it's a great wheel, but like you said 'didn't see the need for them. the blazer is just street driven'... I like these for your Blazer XD766 Diesel

I like the old rims man, I've seen several sets for sale online though, because they were developing hairline cracks. I'd get a new set and just hold on to them or sell them .

No cop in NC that I know of is going to hassle you about running beadlocks. The problem arises when you have an accident and the insurance company can point to a non-DOT approved wheel as a factor in the accident. They will very quickly wash their hands of you. Is it likely? No. Is it worth the risk? That's up to you to decide.

If they are prone to cracks and being recalled... selling them seems pretty counter to the recall...

Unless they become a hot commodity because you can't get them, and then all the guys who are in to skulls and stuff will pay top dollar. Its like the V6 in the TJ's, hard to find, and anyone who has one thinks it's made of gold.

they are discontinued, my issue is that if they deemed them unsafe enough to warranty them 4 years later, they don't need to be on my truck. my grandkids ride in the blazer so if they are cracking , they won't be on my truck.

I like these, but I always liked a 5 spoke rim.

Good thought on it honestly but I've looked for these rims before for an upcoming build, they were almost impossible to find. Lately there seems to be an abundance of them for sale on the ole Searchtempest.......
