For the professional welders out there

What’s your thoughts on a Lincoln power mig 300, supposedly mig, tig and stick all in one

Supposed to a great mig, looking more at the tig functions for aluminum work?

Pros cons let’s here it, I am a self taught welder that can glue somethings together, never done any tig welding but I am interested in learning it

I have a Lincoln Power mig something but maybe not what you're asking about. Mine's an all in one unit that's supposedly automatic settings for ease of operation.. I don't know what part about it is automatic but it took me about 6 months to realize that I had to dial it in just like anything else, maybe even moreso because it don't do shit without you setting it correctly. Once you figure that out it sizzles like bacon!
I'll look at the model numbers in morning to see what it actually is called.

300 amps is a lot. You planning on welding some thick stuff?

Possibly doing some welding stuff for a logger on some big equipment

It sparked my interest because of the ability to tig aluminum

I have a Hobart 210 MVP that I love, but if I could do the same mig and tig some aluminum why not

I didn’t know the power mig line had ac capability. I thought it was dc only tig.

I thought to weld aluminum, you need a spool gun to mig aluminum, not tig aluminum.

Yeah I am not sure, that’s why I was asking

I was under the impression you could use the feeder in the welder except you needed to ensure the lead was straight and had a fresh smooth liner not exposed to other materials. (And correct shielding gas)

I used a 255 like that where I used to work. Never really blew my skirt up. It could lay down some metal, and it had pulse capabilities, but it was overly complicated IMO, and kinda temperamental. If you get it, get the manual and learn it. There's a steep learning curve attached to all those features.

Mac is spot on.....they do pulse Mig and pulse spray transfer with trim settings. Pulse spray on 16gauge to what ever. Enough umph to run flux cores and dual shield like a boss in .045 wire.
DC tig is nice but not supper supple like an older tranformer. 99 percent certain it's also lift arc or scratch start only. Not deal breaker just a little different finness.

Biggest perk is they run in all the voltage ranges. A lot of machine this size are really happy turned up but struggle on the low end.

If I wasn't clear....the pulse Mig is Tits.

Not a bad stick welder either. Not excellent for 6010 roots but it'll run them fine too.
Smokes 7018 just fine.

Used many of these units one after another....not a single internal failure in 2 plus years.

No a.c. tig.

Oh, also has synergnic setting where the machine matches volts to wfs. A neat feature but we also turned it off to teach welder operator set up....sometime the machine can get "unbalanced" in this mode.

Multiple power inputs also allowed.

Of I think of any other feature I'll post up...

We had some 500 amp unit beside these.....I call them middle of the road...like a basic small block.
