i have been searching all over the web about these things. i think i kinda understand how to do it but still a lil worried about back feed and fry my ecu. idk but i read on a page that you could used two batterys or just hook up jumper cables to your battery and use 3/32 rod? but i have also read that when welding on your own rig you need to reversr polarity, so basicly i am comfused. can someone lead me in the right way???
 
In emergency situations, two batteries, jumper cables, and 3/32" rod will work, but you will need a second set of battery cables to connect the batteries. I have done this and it worked with no damage to either vehicle. It is fairly difficult to get the arc to strike, and the rod stuck alot, but it got me back together enough to drive home.
 
go to the other thread that is running and read up on it. Stnger on the positive post of the alternator is the way to go if welding on your own rig.We had to do the battery rig before and that is why I do the weldernator now.
