Anyone near Raleigh that can weld an aluminum bracket for me first of this week? The mounting tab is broken.

Not that welding Al is an issue at all, but take that bracket into any metal fab shop and have it mapped and redrawn for fresh CNC cut out of steel or stainless. I'd say stop on by, but I'm 4-5 hours from ya.

Facebook ads now has an alum looking paste that is claimed to be stronger than JB or Liquid Metal! Or you can get the welding rods that melt with a propane torch! Man, I have some of those rods, from 30 years back. I forget I have them! I have a power steering bracket, broke just like your plate, except it's a cast piece. I Large washer has held it for years! Wish I had thought to try one of my rods! Couldn't hurt.
Here's a old pic of it. End of bracket bolted to the water pump. There Suppose to be a shoulder all the way around. I think it just stabilizes the bracket & some support, as there are 2 other large main bolts.

I wonder how well those brazing rods work. I bought a pack from Harbor Freight just to try but haven't tried it yet. On the TV, they fill a hole in a coke can but I wonder about the strength on bigger stuff.

That's probably the ones I have left, though I may have official brazing rods. The ones that were advertised on TV fixing coke cans & other such stuff, is where I started.
