Welding LSD

My little brother has a lsd 8.8 in his cherokee, he wants to weld it. Would this work the same as welding an open dif? Or would the lsd have some weird affect?

yea i don't know if that is going to be possible. Where an open diff has spider gears and a limited slip has all those clutch packs and what not
 
Believe the carrier still has some kind of side gears or drive gears of some sort That Im sure you could weld to the carrier.

Other option...Why not save the this diff and find an open one to weld?
 
According to the warning signs on welders i have seen, one should never operate while on drugs. I assume this means LSD !!:lol:

Yes, but since LSD is a psycho-active drug, the "operator" and the "user" are generally not the same "person"! :eek:.

well the last time I dosed up and welded a<limited slip diff>I cleaned it up real well with brake clean and after I stopped seeing tracers and the carpet turned into rivers Iwelded the side gears to the carrier and filled in between the teeth as best as yoy can.I think its better not to remove the clutch packs and try to weld because it looses the correct gap between the side gears and the spiders,I think if can remember corectly but then again I think I have some drain bramage:beer:
 
The 8.8 carrier is a weak point anyway from what I've heard...
 
I have been doing some asking around on the 8.8s and from what I learned its only the LSD carriers that are weak. the open carrier is supposed to be fine.

Bring it over here and we'll burn it good! What can it hurt? Just leave the drugs at home :)
