Welding on sending unit

So I have to pull it still, but I'm pretty sure I broke the right angle tube on the top of my sending unit. I'm assuming its aluminum. New sending units are $100+. Is this weldable? JB weld? Actualy aluminum welding(I can't do that but could bring it to my local welding shop).

Thoughts?
 
Generally you can buy a new lock ring for about $5.00. It will make more sense once you get it apart. Pics and application would help.
