well I finally got around to getting another set of contacts after about a year or so. My uncle once told me that you shouldn't weld in contacts because it will melt them to your eyes. I dont really see how that could be but just to play it safe is that true? I have an auto darkening mask so I dont have to worry about not looking through the shield ever.

Been welding for 5+ years, regular and auto darkening shields...never had any problem getting a contact in or out.

Your face would be burning before it'd be hot enough to melt a contact lens in your eye. They aren't made of 50 cent plastic, ya know....

Ask yer uncle if he's seen it happen.

what are you talking about auto darkening helmet? You don't even need a helmet, the contacts will shield your eyes from the blinding light...i've welded with mine in and i haven't had a problem
