I found a long lost logging chain in a natural area while I mowed down some damn stiltgrass w my craftsman 24 hp rider. The chain stopped the blades and the motor in an instant. The blades, mower belt and one spindle were toast and a tear in the deck @ the discharge. I thought the engine would be damaged from stopping in an instant a WOT, but it still runs fine 5 years later. I also put a tire in a hole, again in the natural area and dropped the blades onto a grapefruit sized quartz rock that shattered and shot shrapnel everywhere, 2 blades were destroyed. I don't mow the natural areas anymore. If I need to kill some stiltgrass/ivy, I cover it w a tarp for a few weeks.
