...as of Monday 10/5, I will be a Federal Employee. Get to don my official title of "mad scientist working in a (not-so) secret Army lab".
Geez after only, er, 14 years of "training", my first "real" job lol.

please break the cycle and set the example out there

Congrats...

So let me get this right you will be a rat lab guy then?

Metaphorically, yes. Technically, no.
I won't be doing animal-based studies (at least real soon), all based on fully intact, living-breathing humans. Oh and occaisonally Cadets ;-) since the Army puts "Soldiers" and "humans" in diferent catagories for IRB purposes
I have in the past, that's where/when I picked up this moniker.

Sorry to hear it.. :flipoff2:

who is this moniker you picked up? someone you met in maryland? is the same one that got bill clinton in toruble?

Soooo.... it looks like I have to get a full background investigation to upgrade my security access.
This is a warning to some of you, you may get a visit from a guy a in a black suit...

Cool! I got some shit I can tell 'em! Should I ask them if you still wear the beard and kufi?

Um... that's why I'm NOT listing you as "somebody who's known me while I lived at this address"

Geez this is the longest set of forms I've ever completed. How many people actually know what town their father-in-law was born in?

in all seriousness.....any further JOKES about ratties past should be reserved for the garage.

i'd hate for one of us being a smart ass to be the reason he didnt pass a back ground check. They check your online aliases now.

rattie, sorry you didnt get the job...

Congrats on the new job ....dont fed employees start out woth like 8 weeks of vacation?
:p

Um, no.
4 hrs per pay period, which is 2 weeks... making it 1 day per 4 weeks, or about 13 in a year.
But of course, all the Fed holidays, even the oddball ones like Columbus day.... but then, only 1 day for Christmas, 1 Thanksgiving, etc.

I've got an "in" with the feds already, remember? :flipoff2: I think you've got a little more clearance than Whitney, though! Gotta love that whole "vacation accrual" thing, huh? I hope it all goes well. If you need a reference, feel free to throw my name out there. I'm sure it'll be down at the bottom of the list, though.

The average [insert applicable alphabet team] agent/officer will have no problem deciphering banter about his hadji apparel, pet monkey, kiddie porn & pharmaceutical side businesses (to name a few :flipoff2:) from the "truth"...
