I was enjoying a rare nothing to do lazy Saturday morning when a sudden banging noise started outside. Bang-------Bang----Bang---Bang-Bang-BangBangBangBangBang....speeding up as it went.

I looked out the window and my back yard was covered in what appeared to be feathers or dust or....something.

For those that don't know my daughter raises ducks. So feathers in the yard is not good. I head outside prepared for a sad teenager. All 4 of our breeder ducks came running up...so cool no duck problems .

A few minutes of detective work leads to this.

So many questions...

Dang... It's crazy what gets stuck in those condenser units. Not sure if it's the radiant heat from the compressor or what it is. Fishing out the culprit is not always fun.
From a service call I did a few years back:

Good news is that you can coin a new PG phrase: "What the duck?"

I'm just not sure how the bird got in there.

I mean snakes are notorious for squeezing in tight places...but birds?

Pretty sure an egg rolled into the unit, stayed warm enough to hatch, had enough bugs coming through unit to grow said bird, bird was attempting to fly and whump whump whump, WHAT THE DUCK!!!

Who did he make mad? I can't imagine that got in there by itself.

Sorry it was a tiny little wren..not a duck.

How has the weather been there lately? Any warm days you weren't running the heat pump awhile?
I suspect there was some period when the thing wasn't running, hell maybe even earlier today (maybe it was in cool down mode?) and he wriggled down in there head first to fetch a worm, insect or something... probably getting desperate given the time of year. Then it cranked up and Bam.

The away vs close up makes ya think you got
Foghorn
