So I am working with the WRC to get some bad mudholes fixed where I duck hunt. I am sending them this pic to show them how deep some of the holes are. I crawled through this hole and then went around it on the way out. The access is about 1 mile from my house and as I reached my driveway the CEL was on. I hosed the outside off and then backed it into it's spot. I did not leave it running to do this.
Yesterday morning I tried to crank it with no luck. Today I checked and got a code 54 which is no CPS signal. Got the meter out and it showed a short between A and B. I might add that the distributor and CPS combo in the jeep are about 2 months old. I pulled a CPS off a motor I have in the garage and metered it and it showed infinite on all pins. When I pulled the near new CPS in the jeep is was clear that water had invaded it. It was mud stained on the top side. The tracks indicate that it entered where the sensor wire exits.
I've heard that you have to be careful with fumes from silicone sealants. Does that apply to the CPS? What else can I use to seal the distributor. I guess I will search on Google for the answer too. This is an FYI for others that might have the same problem.
