Holy shit thats the most fun you can have with your pants on. I went to a reunion for a bunch of older skaters from the 80's and 90's in Louisville KY and on my way back made a detour to Harlan Ky. I was by myself with no CB so I stayed on the blues but I have to say my rig held up well on her maden voyage.

Midway Bar and Grill at 7pm. It's on 150 near the bridge.

If you were going from Moresville to Denver on 150 it would be just over the bridge on the left. If you're going from Denver to Mooresville on 150 it's just before the bridge on your right.

Yep, Harlan is the new Tellico. I am blessed to only be 2 hours away.

I am blessed to be 4 hrs away. I only wish there was not those two white knuckle two lane death hills with no shoulder between me and the trails. One had a sign of 7% grade and the other one is so damn steep they don't even give a grade rating, only a picture of a truck on a steep hill!!!o_O Fawkin-A

Someone told me to roll I-40 across the gorge into Tennesee and backtrack adding approx. 45 minutes to the drive. Need to study a map and try it on the next run.

Upgrade to a newer diesel tow rig and those little hills tend to go away. :-)

My old paid for 7.3 chugs along just fine. I have no desire (or ability) to tote a 60k note on a new rig. If anyone wants to donate one I would be glad to drive it.

It still doesn't change the fact that the road is narrow and steep with no shoulder.

Got a BHAF, straight stock diameter exhaust, TS chip, and guages. EGTs are my enemy on those hills, maybe I shouldn't pay them any attention! I was told a 4" exhaust wouldn't drop EGTs much. Being an OBS 7.3 I don't have an intercooler, which should change everything.

With a family at home my hobby takes second place in priority. Funds are distributed accordingly.

I wont travel I26 to harlan again... if you got 40 through the gorge and up its way easier only one climb and its about like black mtn

Old Fort Mtn grade is a cake walk. I can tow at 60 no problems. In April when we went through I26 I was around 18k and those two fawking hills were pulled at 40-45 cause the EGTs were at 1200.

I looked at MapQuest earlier and the I-40 route only adds 30 minutes to the trip. Thats the way I will go next time.
