i saw some sick looking trucks this weekend, one chevy had 54" boggers and you could walk under it almost.

everybody was looking at me like i was stupid when i was driving all over the beach with my 28" tires on my 4runner with ease.

anyone else go this weekend? i saw a few jeeps in a group parked by the dunes.

up in Corolla all the way up North on route 12 the beach access is still open. i remember when i was down there last summer a ton of vehicles had lifts/tires. the big cargo vans were the best, and then there's the school bus that's been turned into an off-roading tour guide vehicle. awesome.

The thing about the Outer Banks is not really four wheeling, but rather fishing. The four wheeling thing is a nice bonus to the world famous fishing along the shores of the outerbanks. Cape Hatteras "the point" is iconic among fisherman.

The closing of "the point" to fisherman is a travesty of the highest order.

corolla, and organ inlet is still open.

i was asking cause last year i was at the red drum and they were talkin about some dumbass kid that got a dui on the beach and they were talking about closing the beach to people so they couldn't drive all the way down

is anyone interested in getting a few trucks together and GO FISHING, LOL, one weekend. i have never been out on the beach driving and would like to go. cant this weekend, im getting married. but let me know when you guys go. id like to tag alone

i'd like to guy, but alas im still waiting to win the lottery so i can afford the gas to go!

ill be going again in july.

Hey guys, Im going be down there from June22-29. The boys and me are gonna be trying to ride some and do some fishing too. We all are returning from Iraq together and It should be real fun. I have never driven on the beach before but this year we are going to try and find some places to ride and do some fishing for sure. Email if interested mitchmp2005@yahoo.com

Over 1/2 of the beach is closed for 5 pairs of birds, 3 are not even threatened or endangered. What is happening is the systematic reduction of PUBLIC access to a PUBLIC park. Fawk the NPS http://www.islandfreepress.org/CatBeachAccessIssues.html read it and weep.

NO night driving 10 pm-6am, which is when I catch the vast majority of my reds and when I go Hatt Inlet to flounder gig. This is the biggest enviormental BS that has ever been forced down the throat of NC and US taxpayers.

Maybe I could not "see" the various closings on the beach side but I just got back from there myself and I could see the closings for myself.

I saw there is a tip on Oregon inlet that the signs were up and around and then about halfway down between there and rodanthe there was another 1 mile stretch that was closed/the rope was up. But MOST of the beach appeared to be open?

I drove down to Hatteras point and it was open on the sand, lots of rigs...

But there is a sign mentioning no beach driving at night as mentioned. (Not sure how well/if that is being enforced) But honestly, I drove hwy 12 from Corolla to Ocracoke and I don't think I saw more than a couple miles that had the ropes around it / with those signs?

Read the link and check out the maps.

I just got back from a surf fishing trip to Hatteras and there are indeed alot of beach acess points closed. The entire point is closed but around the lighthouse there are a couple ramps open, as well as ramp 38 and many other ramps north. We didn't have any trouble finding places to get out on the beach but it does suck you cant get to the point unless you walk.

My wife and I will be out that way for the week starting 7/26.

She lets me drive in the sand up above Corolla, as long as we get to see the wild horses. :driver:

Also....There are Philly Cheese steaks!!!! Not just any old Philly cheese steaks, I'm talking about the real deal!!!! They ship down the ingredients from Philly. The shop is hidden in Corolla Light shopping center.

If you want to do some beach driving, look me up. I live off road in Corolla and drive the beach daily. Some days it's great other days....well any day at the beach is a good day.

Count me in if its next month sometime. Ive always wanted to drive on the dunes and beach!! Can someone tow my vehicle? ha ha gas is rough!

A-1 Towing is pretty much the only one on the beach. He starts at about $120 and only does cash or check. There are lots of people though who will help you out if they can. I have helped and been helped a couple of times. Once was at 9:30 at night towing a 6x12 trailer along the water line. I got stuck 3 feet from the ocean with a rising tide. That was a scary one.

I help out anyone I can but you have to hook up the strap to your vehicle. I will pull if I approve, give me any lip and I leave.

Hell go to 15 psi and dont even use 4x4. Pea gravel around Oregon Inlet can bite your ass if you overlook it.
