that are equal or better than Verizon. Dad flipped last night and said he's done with them. His contract is up soon and wants out. Does anyone use another carrier that's just as good as far as coverage is considered? US Cellular maybe? i've heard that AT&T blows for coverage and not aure about T-mobile or Sprint.

Thanks.

Sadly VZW owns that area for coverage.
Thats the onyl reason they stay in business with their horrible customer service.
Then again, I guess thats the model, provide a great service at considerable cost and charge people more for it.

Agreed. We switched to AT&T. It's not that bad, but VZW has better coverage, HORRIBLE service. I got tired of having to call them about stupid extra charges they were adding on. My phone was old & having battery problems. The other issue i had with VZW was that if I used my service the same as always under a new contracct my bill would go up $40 a month.

I'd purchase a phone & go prepaid. My cousin has a new iPhone 4s ($650) unlimited data, 1200 minutes for $45/month.

Sprint sucks in the mountains. The GOV tried using sprint and went right back to verizon because of it.

yeah this is what I was expecting. i don't think he realizes this. his issue is that he uses that phone for ALL his calls. He's in a wheelchair mostly now and instead of rolling over 2 feet to grab the house phone he just uses the cell and burns minutes calling our house phone instead of cell to cell (which is free). prepaid would probably eat his lunch the way he uses it.

Us cellular is the only cell service that will work reliably in the mountains besides Verizon. I've had them all & Verizon (which I never had a problem with) pretty much has this area on lock with service.

Most everybody I know, uses Verizon, & I've never heard of these problems! I've been with AT&T, & as for my 2G cell, the coverage is lousy. Never had a problem with customer service, & I call them average of every 3 months, to get credit on "added charges", that aren't mine. I need to check the "no contract" systems.

My company cell uses Carolina West. They have had good coverage everywhere I've been in the mountains. I'm not sure who they feed off of or even if they do

You can go to wal mart and get a pre paid that is $45/month for UNLIMITED talk text and web and uses verizon towers

Us cellular FTW! If he hates verizon and doesnt want an iPhone it's your best coverage in the mountains.

I have US Cellular and like it, so much so I've had it for like 10 years now. My better half wants an iPhone so we'll prob switch to Verizon soon. I go to the mountains regularly and tend to have decent coverage with my phone, much better than my Sprint phone for work...

Go to WalMart, get a Straight Talk pre-paid phone...it uses Verizon towers!

$45/mo unlimited everything!
